Separation anxiety help!! Long...

We recently changed daycares for my 3 yo due to various reasons. In addition I am pregnant/ due in 7 weeks so we figured if we did the transition now she would be settled in by the time baby arrives.

She started 1 week ago and did well for the first week. Come Monday she had a hard drop off but the teachers emailed me within the hour that she was doing great and upon pickup was happy as could be she ate, napped etc.
Fast forward to Monday night I was hospitalized due to excessive bleeding, I'm expected to leave tomorrow and then will be on bed rest until delivery (Oct due date). My husband kept her home Tuesday, dropped her off at daycare yesterday and this morning. The dropoffs were horrendous crying throwing herself on the floor totally out of her element. The teachers again email within the hour with pictures of her as happy as can be playing with friends and that she is fine now.

I know this week has been crazy for her with me being in the hospital and my husband dropping off (it's always me). Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this?? I know deep down she's safe and having a good time at school she is just reacting to all of these changes...

TIA

Don't worry! As things settle down it will get better. It's definitely the change in routine that's throwing her off but she'll adjust. We had a nanny quit unexpectedly and was putting DS (almost 3) in back-up daycare for a couple of weeks, and he completely flipped out at drop offs even though he's been to daycare in the past and loves it. Once we settled in with a new day-to-day routine he knows what to expect in the morning. There are still days he doesn't want us to leave / go to work, but that will happen.

Good luck!

Re: Separation anxiety help!! Long...

DS just finsihed along transition from the toddler room to his Pre-k3 room. This teacher is very structured and somewhat strict compared to other teachers.. shes a mini version of me. Anyways I say all that because he has been giving an incredibly hard time for the last two weeks. My angel boy who never gave me a hard time at drop off now has become a crying screaming mess! Well yesterday was his first real day in his new room - we went directly there.. it was HORRIBLE!! I was sad, embarrassed and everything in between... checked on him later and he was fine...

TODAY - I was so proud - he asked to see his old toddler teacher and I obliged with the understanding that we had to leave after he said hi and gave her a hug… well he did it and then when we went t into his prek class he was a superstar! Gave me my hug gave his snack to the teacher and cautiously went to play!

No crying no screaming… just luv you mom see you later…

It will get better! Don’t let em see you sweat or be worried! They need to know you are ok!! It’s just might take some time… Hang in there!
