Sellers....open house ??
we are having another OH and just thought I would ask/list suggestions on what to do before hand.
I'm getting some nice potted plants for our front porch...
doing early weeding on the flower beds...
cleaning up all the "sticks" (fallen branches) from the winter...
tulips inside on the table....
cinnamon warming on the stove...
nothing on counters
open windows and curtains
what other things do you do to prepare?

I went to one house and the little old Italian lady was making sauce and meatballs. Man did we want to stay there a little longer.

dust, make the bed look all fancy with throw pillows.
put on the music in den/living room - showing off the inwall speakers.
mop the floor (kitchen and dinning area) so we have no sticky areas from the kids.
i'm holding off on outside flowers. but i do have things inside.

we also turn on every light in the house - even closets. And we made a little flyer with a pic of the house and all important info like floor plan, taxes, property size and contact info.

Are you against removing personal pics from the wall? I know you had a lot over your fireplace (very cute ones too  ). Maybe take them down and put up 1 non-photo picture instead. I have heard removing a lot of personal effects is helpful so people can imagine themselves living there rather than looking at the sellers personal stuff. I cannot imagine it would be a deal maker or breaker but the whole cinnamon or cookies baking scent is helpful too so what do I know...I bought in a sellers market

I agree with putting on lots of lights and think the music is a great idea!!! I have also seen lots of dining tables set to let you invision a party. Good Luck!

Liz, our REA told us the pictures is fine...she actually wants more pictures to show what the house looks like at different times of the year. but besides those picture...we have very few personal things left in the house.
I have seen the dining table set...hmmm...have to think about that one...I need to get some nice plates...LOL
lights is a good one. we forgot the basement light and our REA didn't knwo how to turn it on (wall switch   )

I agree with this for the most part. I always felt like the cinnamon on the stove was there to mask another odor and the perfume from some scented candles can be annoying. I'd rather just have the natural scent of the home rather than wonder if they are hiding something.

I agree with the no smells.
We were told no smells, no sound (music etc), clear out the clutter, and CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!!!
