I was not sure if I was going to do this but other journals have helped me so much I figured why not right.
Here goes.... ME: 25 DH: 30 TTC: 1 year DIAGNOSES: Male Factor Infertility Low Sperm Count. Dr: RSofNY
History: We tried on our own with OPK’s for a few months. I decided to have some blood work done by my regular GYN and everything came out great. After 5 months of trying I said it wouldn’t hurt to see a specialist. I had a feeling it was something with DH. I don’t know what it was it was just a feeling. He had a SA done and his count was 1 million. He saw an urologist and an endocrinologist it turns out he has type 2 diabetes. He went on a diet, a vitamin regimen and nothing has changed. He has his diabetes under control so his urologist believes it is just unknown male factor infertility. We did one IUI and it was unsuccessful. Now I am reading everywhere that we wasted our time because anything under 5 million we shouldn’t have even done an IUI. The urologist told us with his numbers we had a 1-2% chance with the IUI and IVF was our best option. We met with my RE and she said IVF with ICSI was our best chance.

Not sure what I am doing next I know it is Follistim, Ganirelix and Menopur but I am not sure how they are having me do this yet. They are going to give me information at my 10.28 appointment. They said I would be doing the injections for 7-10 days. They estimated my ER around 11/13 if all goes right.
I will update this when I get my dosage information on Thursday.

Update 11/4/10 I went for in for monitoring today and they said there are signs of eggs already just three days into injections. They are keeping me on the same just 200 IU of Follistim and going back in on Saturday. They will call me later if my blood work shows I should change my dosage. I guess we are on the right track.

UPDATE 11/7/10
I went for a visit yesterday and they saw many follies. They didn't tell me the exact amount but said it is looking great. There was a note on my file from one of the Dr's saying my Ovaries looked out of place (something I was never told) but the Dr. I saw yesterday said they looked perfect! I go back tomorrow and they are starting me on Ganirelix (which the nurses said there is a shortage of Ganirelix). They said the retrieval could be next week . The Dr. lowered my Follistim for last night and tonight because my estrogen was getting too high.

Update 11/8/10 They said they have 10 good size follies and a few smaller ones. THey said this is great news. I asked when the ER would be and the Dr. told me most likely Friday or Saturday! I cannot believe it is so soon! The nurse did a physical to make sure I am healthy enough to do the ER this week. The nurse did the Ganirelix for me this morning and I am on that for the next few days until the ER. I now go back every morning until the ER.

11/9/10 update Everything is still looking great. Today they showed me 15 follicles. The biggest was 18 1/2 and the smallest was 12. They said they want them all over 18 but I am progressing great. Most are 15 1/2 and bigger. The smallest biggest yesterday was 15 so today to have one at 18 1/2 was great and the ganrelix is working. They are keeping me on the same dosage.

UPDATE 11/12/10 At first my retrieval was suppose to be today or tomorrow but it is going to be Sunday. I take my Lupron shot tonight at 10:30pm and my scheduled time for the retrieval is 8:30am on Sunday! I cannot believe it.
This morning's appointment though got me upset. On Saturday the Dr. I saw said there was a note in the file that my right ovary was in the wrong spot and it was hard to find. I am overweight so that could be it. Well the Dr. on call Saturday told me that there is no reason for concern and it was fine. This was the first I was told about any of this. At yesterdays monitoring appointment I saw the sono tech talking to the Nurse Practitioner about my scans and I saw a concerned look but I was not 100% sure it was my file or not. They said everything looked good so I was like ok great. This morning I saw the same Nurse Practitioner talking to a different sono tech this morning and was asking about my scans. I finally went to her and said ok what is going on. She said the sono tech from yesterday had a hard time with my right ovary but today it is absolutely fine. I was upset all morning because I felt like they should have been discuses this with me the whole time. Anyway the nurse practitioner just called me to tell me the time for the Lupron and I spoke to her about everything. She said the problem yesterday could have been excess gas! I said well why didn't anyone talk to me about this yesterday and she said it was not a big concern. They are having me do a bowel prep which consists of driving a laxative type drink tomorrow to clear everything out (TMI I know).
Anyway my retrieval is on Sunday so I am thrilled!! Overall this whole process has not been has bad as I thought it would be. I really thought it would be awful taking the shots and it was not bad just slight soreness after the injections but nothing crazy.
EGG RETRIEVAL UPDATE 11/14/2010 I went in today for my egg retrieval. The nurses, anesthesiologist and the Dr. were all amazing. I was treated so good and it was a pleasant experience. I thought they would get maybe 15 eggs. Well they got 21 eggs !!! I was in shock when they told me the number. The dr. told me there were a few hidden ones that she got to and was very pleased with the outcome. I am starting endometrin, estrace, and another medicine to help with over stimulation tonight. I am also on a low sodium and limited liquids until my pregnancy test. They will call me tomorrow with the fertilization count and a possible transfer time for Wednesday.
I am so happy right now. A little sore and light bleeding but all in all I am good.
Fertilization Update!!!!!!! 11/15/2010 The Dr. just called and we have 17 fertilized EMBRYOS!! She said we did great and they are very pleased with them. They told me I will probably do a 5 day transfer because my age. I am not sure how my age matters but I am thrilled with that number!!
Update 11/17/10 We have a transfer date! I am going in on Friday at 10:30 am! I am so excited but nervous. These emotions are driving me crazy. I spoke to the embryologist this morning and she said we have 5 very strong embryos and about 12 that are good embryos and we will have quite a bit to freeze. I am happy it is on Friday so I can relax all weekend. YAY
Update: 11/19/10 We did the embryo transfer today. We ended up transferring 1 embryo. The dr. said it was a fantastic embryo and we will have a good amount to freeze. It was amazing being able to actually see on the monitor the Dr. dropping the embryo into my uterus. It was so great!! Although the Dr. was an hour late it was all worth it. We are so happy and just hope this sticks!!! I go for my Beta on 11/29! It seems so far away but it is so close!!! Thank you everyone for your continued support throughout this. It has meant the world to me!
Update: 11/29/10 I had my beta today and it was negative. I am at work and really not sure how I am even writing this right now. I keep crying on and off. This is just horrible.
