ele ed NYC teacher here - im jealous of the 2 preps a day and lunch hahaa
im going to have my kids in my room all day eeryday - preps and lunch - i'm going to lose it!!!

Teaching at the secondary level is different in so many ways from elem (number of kids, curriculum, planning etc.) While both levels are a lot of work, it is inherently different from elem. Most secondary people I know teach 5 or 6 periods a day depending on contract.
Why do you have your kids all day? Does your contract build in a lunch and or prep?

5th: in the office
6th: in the office
7th: lunch
8th: in the office
9th: in the office
In the office could mean with students, parents, teachers, or out at CSE eetings etc. you get the idea

Yeah - I think most schools let you teach 4 in a row. My old school did too. This is block scheduling though so its really only two classes (each class is 84 minutes). It confusing and easier to write as 9 periods.

I am so thrilled  to have 3 preps again.  But at least they were kind enough to give me the preps in a row so I don't have to keep resetting like last year where it was every other prep.

In my district, you are technically not allowed to leave early if you have free 9th period unless you have AM duty (which is a very small number of people). Do people leave early? Yes... Is it allowed? Technically no. Personally I feel that if people take advantage of the leaving early thing, then it could get taken away. JMO
