Same name as DH if it's a boy
my DH wants to name the baby the same name as him. First name and middle name.
I think it's cute now but, if we DO have a boy I'd like to choose something different.
Anyone else's Dh's request their name for their son?

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
DH originally wanted to do this but we decided against it. His entire family is a bunch of guys with the same name so we decided something different would be better. Maybe if the names make up cute letters you can do something like CJ, AJ, JP, etc. But if you really want something different then DH"s name you should talk to him and tell him how you feel. Suggest using his first name as the middle name.

Same here. I like Dino's name and think it would be cute to have a Jr. I'm leaving it up to my husband. If he decides he wants a Dino Jr, that is what we'll do.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
John did not want this.
My husband is John Ramon. His father is John Edward I think... so he's not a jr.. but there are enough John's in his family. He wanted a new name if we were having a boy. Which is fine with me... bc John is too traditional for me.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
This is our plan. I don't really see anything wrong with it. It is to honor your DH and his name.
Honestly, we are changing it up a little...on paper it will be a Jr, but we call my DH Jim...if we have a boy his name will be James.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
DH did NOT want to name our son after him. Our son would be The Third - and DH said it was confusing enough with mail, taxes, credit cards, etc being a Jr.
But his name will be the middle name. I didn't bend on that.

This is true, DH and his father have the same name and he went for some kind of credit one time and all of his dads stuff came up. They did have a lot of mix ups with the mail as well.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
My DH did. He wanted to honor his father (who had the same name) who is deceased. I told him no - not because I didn't want to honor his father, but because my father was also deceased, and why were we choosing one over the other. In the end we compromised and agreed if we had a boy he would be given both fathers' middle name.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
we're naming our son after DH but giving him a middle name (DH doesnt have a middle name)
BTW, it was the only name we could agree on. DH wanted to name the baby after my dad, which is Salvatore, so I said what about naming him after you, Joseph, and he agreed.....he still wants to name him after my dad but I'd rather DHs name....

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
My husband goes by his middle name (Sean). His brother called his first son after him and now his sister is having a boy and calling him Sean also. It is a name I really like and may not have done a Jr. but now I don't even have the choice!
Instead it looks like we might go with a play on my DH's first given name, which will also honor his father.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
my Dad is a Jr and my DH is a Jr and it's always a headache (mixed up credit reports, etc).
My parents reversed my Dad's name for my brother and I always thought that was a great solution. i.e. Dad is John Thomas Brother is Thomas John

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
DH wanted to name DS the same name as his. I thought, since DS is a boy, he'll always have DH's last name. I wanted DS's first name to reflect my family. We named DS after my great grandfather and grandfather, and his middle name was my dad's name. We would have used DH's name as DS's middle name, but we were not thrilled with how it sounded.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
I asked DH if he wanted this and he hates his name, so it's a no for that. I hate to admit that I was kind of relieved because I want to name the baby, boy or girl, after my father who is deceased. I told DH we'll name a boy my fathers name and DH's first name as the baby's middle name, but he didn't want that either. so now we've decided (or more I have) that if it's a boy it will be my fathers first name and FIL's first name as the middle name, to keep everyone happy!

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
DS is Raymond John the 4th.
We did it more out of respect and honor of DH's late grandfather (the 1st). We would not have named him after DH if his name was not already a legacy.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
Yes, and I'm not happy about it but in his defense it is also his dad's name, who passed away. so he really wants to name him after his dad. and he doesn't care about it being a III or whatever, so if I give it a middle name (DH doesn't have one) then it won't be.
it's the only thing he feels remotely strongly about it, so I guess I need to give. I just don't understand why you would want your kid to have the same name as you. oh well.

same here, Dh is John and he actually is a Jr and he hates it. he hated being called jr as a kid and he despises how boring and traditional his name his, he said he'd never wanna name his son John

It's not my Dh's fathers name either. His middle name is from his Grandfather. His first name is his father's middle name.

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
Yes.
I although I like his name, I am not thrilled with the possiblity of now having a Chloe and a Joey
We were team the first time around, and DH didn't want a boy named after him - so choosing Chloe was open. why now the change of heart??
I should bring up to DH about all of the confusion with mail and SS and stuff... thats a good point!
In the long run - If DH wants a jr - than a jr it is - I will not deny him of that - and I will just have to get over the cutsy rhymy thing - by creating a NICKNAME!!!

Re: Same name as DH if it's a boy
My DH wanted a JR. if it was a boy. I am against that because I would like our child to have their own name. Luckily we are having a little girl so I don't have to worry about that now!
