Re: Salicylic Acid???

I tried not using any and my skin was a disaster, so I compromised and I use one product a day (face wash with low % salicylic acid)----honestly, my doctor never mentioned it, but i read about it on here

Re: Salicylic Acid???

I have no clue why u can't Chat Icon But did read that. No OB ever told me not to.

I did pay attention to "chemicals" though throughout my pregnancy, whether it helped or not, who knows! Obviously, we're all fine Chat Icon

I think it's fine unless you are drinking it. I used Jolene bleach on my face while I pregnant and DS is fine.

honestly, i only listen to what MY doctor tells me. i don't follow what other doctors tell other patients and what people on here are told. if your doctor doesn't tell you there's a problem, use it. i still use all my face products AND hair removers because my doctor is fine with it

ITA!!!!!!!!!!! I go with what my doctor told me, and he said that it was ok as long as it's a simple face wash and toner.

I know you girls are right. It's just funny how half of the stuff people mention on here, my doctor has never said a word about. Chat Icon I guess there are always those different ends of the spectrum huh?

Absolutely!

If ever there is a question in my head, or maybe I've heard something on this board, I write it down on my question sheet, and bring it to him on my next appointment. He's not going to bring up everything, and if in case there is something that mayyyyyybe I shouldn't be doing/using... I want to make sure to ask him for our safety! KWIM?!

Re: Salicylic Acid???

I never stopped & probably never will. I use the St. Ives Apricot scrub every morning & I haven't had breakouts in years. My doctor didn't say anything about not using it, so unless I want to be a pimply preggo, I'm going to continue to use it. Chat Icon

I had read this article early on and decided to stop using some of my products that had salicylic acid & retinyl ingredients. Plus my OB said they recommend staying away from it.
I think in a face wash it's fine, but not a cream where it can sink in & be absorbed.
Bottom line, ask your doctor, and you have to do what you feel comfortable with.

I actually brought my otc facial cleaner with me to my last dr's appt. he said salicylic acid was the active ingredient and that it was okay to use so I still use it. He said that products containing retinol should be avoided though.
