Salicylic Acid
I've been using a facial scrub and it says it has salicylic acid in it.
Is that bad? Should i not be using it?
My doctor didn't mention anything about not using it.

Re: Salicylic Acid
You are very welcome!
I was in the same boat as you.... I use the SA simply because everything else is so drying for me, but the SA seems to work like a charm. I was nervous about this in the beginning so I made sure to ask him - I think he thinks I'm crazy for all the ?'s I ask him at every appointment - but he said that it was perfectly ok...

Re: Salicylic Acid
I think that a face wash or scrub is okay, but not lotions or anything where the salicylic acid will soak into the skin. I found this article on babycenter.com that lists safe and unsafe ingredients in skincare. article

I read that article too and stopped using my regular face wash and moisterizer because of it. My doctor never said anything about it, and I forgot to ask him but I just switched on my own.

That's exactly what I did too. It's surprising the number of products that have retinol and/or salicylic acid in them.

I thought salicylic acid was a no-no. I would ask your doc.

so was mine. He said you use so little, and it's such a small % of the total ingredients that it's fine.

I was using it too...and thought it was fine since it was face wash and u use a small amt and wash it off right away. But then I asked my midwife and she said to stop using it.

Re: Salicylic Acid
I used proactiv through most of my pregnancy and I think that contains salycic acid. I think the dr's are more concerned with retin-a and medications like that.
