SAHMs, when do you shower/get cleaned up?

Do you do it first thing in the morning before the baby wakes up?

When the baby goes down for the nap at some point?

At night, once DC has gone to bed?




I wish I had the energy to shower & get dolled up before DD wakes up in the morning, but I always find myself waiting for an afternoon nap.

I wake up with Noah around 7 am, hang out with him/give him breakfast etc and I like to be out of the house by around 10ish, either for a playgroup or a class or just to meet up with some girlfriends, so I try to have a shower at around 8.30/9 ish most days. Some days if we have nothing planned or if its raining, I wlll hang around in my PJ's until later. But most days Noah and I are in our PJ's together in the morning!

One of my girlfriends always has her hair and make up done, so today I complemented her on how nice she always looks! I told the girls that my idea of accessorising was to wear a belt to keep my trousers up!


eta, normally I put Noah in his crib to play with whatever toys he has in there and by the time I am finished showering he has has just about enough!!!

I usually put her in the bouncer and put her by the bathroom door if shes awake. If shes sleeping, I will leave the door open so I can hear her. If all of that fails, I wait for my wonderful mom and sister to come over and they watch her for me.

Before Kaylee was born, I'd shower at night after Christopher went to bed and then fix myself up either in the morning before he woke up or during his first nap in the morning. Now though, I'm just doing it whenever the heck I can.

When my son was an infant I usually put him in his bouncer seat and brought him into the bathroom with me, and left the door open. Now that he is older he usually plays with his toys in my bedroom while I take my shower in the bathroom, which is connected to my room.

Julia and I both get up at like 9:30, I feed her breakfast first, then I take a shower, I bring her in the bathroom with me and she just hangs out till I'm done, I leave some toys in the bathroom so she has stuff to play with.

DD naps around 10am so usually that's when I shower. I can shower if she's awake but it's a bit more challenging because she doesn't last the whole time it takes me to get ready and she gets into everything.
When she was younger I would put her in the travel swing and shower and get ready. She was fine with that. It's now that she's mobile that it's more challenging.

DDs naps are so short I have to put her in the bouncy in the bathroom with me but now she is outgrowing it, not sure what i will do!

I like to do it in the evening, after DS goes to bed. But I used to shower in the evening even before having a baby.

The exception is on the days where I work out on the elliptical during his morning nap-- then I do a real quick shower right after the workout while he's still sleeping.

Abby goes down for a morning nap within 1-2 hours of being awake so I get ready then. But if we have an appointment or somewhere we have to be in the morning (Thursdays we have a playgroup at 10) I put her in the swing in her room, pray she doesn't scream the whole time, and shower. I keep the video monitor (I can point it at the swing in her room) in the bathroom with me.

When I'm home with her all day, I just shower whenever I feel like it. Usually in the morning because that's the only way I feel normal, but I'll either bring her in the bathroom in the bouncy seat or if she's sleeping, just bring the monitor.

In the beginning when my DD was an infant i had to wait until my husband got home from work. then as time went on I worked it in during the day while she napped in her bouncy seat outside of the shower door.

I can't bring myself to get up b4 DD b/c I neeeeeed my sleep! So I usually do it when she naps in the morning. She naps for 30-40 min so it's just enough for the shower, not enough for hair or make up though. So if I need some extra time I put her in bouncy with me in bathroom or I put in Baby Einstein for her.

Depends on what the day begins with....

With 2 kiddies, I NEVER get up before them...

Lauren is usually first up, about 8 a.m. and she gets fed. Andrew is up sometime between 9 and 10. After we all have had breakfast, Lauren goes in for a nap and while Andrew plays, I shower.

If we have to go somewhere that morning, I try and shower after feeding Lauren and before Andrew gets up.

If we're not going anywhere, I don't shower

I try to get in the shower before my kids wake up,,,
but realistically most of the time i get caught up on the phone,doing housework,on the computer...and then my kids wake up so i miss the chance and have to wait till I put them back to sleep that night!!

With my 2, it's impossible to leave them to take a shower.
I wait till my DH comes home at night and the kids are asleep. That's when I shower.
As far as getting dressed in the morning...if there's no school or karate or soccer or playdates that day...we stay in our PJ's ALL day!!

I'm up before my late sleeper. So I get up and shower and make the bed etc before she gets up. When she was a few weeks I'd put her in the bouncy seat at the bathroom door.

Well I take a shower every other day and I wash up usually late morning early afternoon. I either put him in his jumperoo and put Laurie Berkner on or I do it while he is napping.

I usually feed my babies a bottle around 6:30 and then sometimes Reese will fall back asleep and I will take Sydney into my bed so my husband and i can play with her and sometimes Reese too. then around 8:30 i bring both girls downstairs put on an Einstein Tape and take a shower...it works like a charm.
