SAHMs-Do you hit a "wall" every night?
Granted this is only the second week of this, but I feel like come 6-7 at night I am going to have to start drinking something STRONG.
Our situation is unique b/c DH works nights, so he has to sleep during the day. And even when I get out during the day, I feel this way in the evening.
DH has really been enjoying me being home, and basically has done NOTHING since I've been home. Even in the mornings when he is awake and home. Which is fine, I guess, I mean, he was home with DS everyday for 6 full months and was going on NO sleep.
But I just feel so DONE by this time of night and I am no where near done since I still have to get DH up and out of the door and DS into bed
Help!! How do I deal with this? How do I try to not make it happen?

Um, yeah and I'm dealing with a kid that doesn't move yet In my defense he IS almost 26 pounds so just toing him around all day is exhausting in itself. But these rainy days are draining every bit of patience I have in me!! He has been in bed by 6/6:15 because I am just done

OMG totally understand- by 6pm, especially when DH is out of town, I have had it. And I still have to feed, bathe and put down two kids. Its rough. Part of me is looking forward to going back to work for relaxation purposes!

OMG I am so jealous. I wish he was in bed now (so bad ) but he stays up later b/c of DH's work schedule.
And he is almost 26lbs?!?!? Christopher is 29!

Re: SAHMs-Do you hit a "wall" every night?
I get totally exhausted by 8pm every night. On days when DH works late I put them to bed earlier so I can have some time to myself.
I get a litte annoyed with DH sometimes because he always has to watch the game or play xbox and if I want to watch something on tv he is all whiny and I wind up watching upstairs in our bedroom, where DD is sleeping for the time being.

Its so hard and this crappy weather makes it worse

Yeah the bedtime just keeps getting earlier, but I can't go too early otherwise we'll be up at 5am I'm usually in bed by 9pm
And yes, he is HUGE. I grunt everytime I have to pick him up off the floor. I can't wait for this kid to be able to walk on his own

I am fried by bedtime. Literally can barely make it up the stairs. I still have to clean the house and put the toys away, and I have no energy to do anything at all right now.

Re: SAHMs-Do you hit a "wall" every night?
7 pm....is my "wall". That's why DH usually takes care of bath and books and then I sing and put her to bed.
I am *usually* in bed around 8:30/9

Yeah I probably should, although my arms are nice and buff
The other option is rigging up something to attach to the dogs so they can carry him on their backs. Now that would be awesome!

Oh I hear you. 630-730 is Gianna's witching hour. If I try and put her down for th night, she freaks, but if I keep her up, also a 'not so happy camper'. Usually that is the time I take her for a walk. I live in Kansas and we are under a heat advisory, temps close to 100, with the 'feels like' temp between 105 and 110. MISERABLE. So we are also stuck inside. I'm about ready to jump ship

Re: SAHMs-Do you hit a "wall" every night?
I start to fade around 4 or 5, and it just gets worse as the evening goes on--right now I should be making dinner, but I am too darn tired. DH is home putting DS to bed also--it's just the first moment I've had to myself in quite a few hours you know?
I am tired all the time. I said over this weekend that I could easily sleep 3 weeks straight. I'm almost serious here.
Sorry, I don't have much advice to get through it. Sometimes I dance with DS late in the day and put on music to pep myself up a little. Or I do jumping jacks or sit ups in front of him--he things it's funny, and it actually gives me a small boost. But I'm with you, strong booze or coffee would be better.

Re: SAHMs-Do you hit a "wall" every night?
I feel the same way. DH leaves at 10am and does not get home til 9pm, that is if he is not working overtime. So I am basically with my 22 month old DD all day and I am 7 months pregnant. The only way I survive is by not giving her a nap. When she does nap it's only for about an hour and then will not go to bed til 10pm...I rather keep her awake and have her go to be by 7pm. The latest she falls asleep is 7:15, its so nice because then I have the whole night free. My days are long since she doesn't nap but I make sure to do something with her during the day and then by 4 she is tired that she basically wants to watch TV and play quietly so its been working for me.

Re: SAHMs-Do you hit a "wall" every night?
Yup same here. DH works late hours, gets home past 9 every night so by the time he gets home I am ready to veg out and relax. When DS goes to bed for the night I rush around doing a million things, getting dinner ready for DH etc so like someone else posted I try to do something for me at night even if it's 30 minutes of me time.

Re: SAHMs-Do you hit a "wall" every night?
Most nights my DH gets home way after DS goes to bed.....by about 6pm I hit a wall. It is a loooong 2 hours from then til bedtime. Lately, since being pregnant I can barely make it upstairs to put on his pj's and get ready for bed. And on bath night I don't clean I just don't have the energy after bathtime to clean up. I usually just kick everything to the side of the room

Uhhh...YES! It's sometime after dinner. DH MUST brush their teeth...it's a stupid little thing, but at that point dragging us all upstairs just seems like running a marathon.
And Kate...did I miss something? You're a SAHM now???

I actually hit a wall around 3:00 p.m. and by 6:30 p.m. I hit another wall. I have a 3+ year old, 17 month old and I'm due July 4th...I'm tired.
