SAHM and being excused from jury duty?
If you are a SAHM & the only caregiver to your DC during the day & cannot serve jury duty, do you just send in your DC's birth cert to prove that you have young kids at home? Have you had any problems?

Yes, I just sent in a copy of their birth certificate and a letter explaining that I was the primary caregiver and had no backup daycare and I was excused.

I'm not sure.
I would hope it would be indefinitely since my situation is not going to change anytime soon. I am the primary caretaker with NOBODY to watch my DD if they forced me to show up. So unless they want a toddler running around the courtroom it would be in their best interest to find someone else to serve. 
I mailed back the question form about 2-3 months ago and I told them my situation and have not gotten a summons. Usually when I've sent that paperwork back in the past I get summoned within a month. So far, nothing thankfully!!

I was excused for years....but I would get the summons constantly and had to go through the "excuse" every few years..
I finally just went and b/c of the kids I wasnt put on a jury and allowed to only serve that one day for few hours...
Im now excused for, I think, 7years...
It was well worth it...

oh good to know, I just got the questionaire in the mail. I don't want to do it now when I'm home, hope they call me in a couple years when I'm working
