Rye Playland
Has anyone been recently?
My family used to go there every summer when we were kids (well over 20 years ago). Now that we have our own families I thought about going back, but people are telling me the area has "gone to sh!t" and there are gangs and stuff there.
Anyone know if this is true?
Thanks.

Re: Rye Playland
I used to go to the ice rink there all the time as a kid. About 10yrs ago, I was thinking of moving to Westchester and went to the beach there to check it out. It was sketchy to say the least. It's so weird because Rye is such a nice town but that place attracts people from all over I guess.

Re: Rye Playland
I went a couple summers ago with my then-3-year-old niece and 8-month-old godson.
They now throw gang signs at each other and I never realized the correlation but now that you mention it, they must've picked up some shit at Rye Playland.
It's fine there, no need to worry. It's a sorta-crappy amusement park that doesn't require a fee to walk in, so it's good for everyone, even those that don't like rides. Still fun for a few hours though!

It's bigger than Adventure Land, but probably not as "nice". It used to be very nice when I was younger, we would go 2-3 times a summer. My parents never even took us to Adventure Land. But it is safe, and fun. I haven't been in awhile, but I want to take my 6 & 4 yr olds this summer.

DH and I went maybe 5 or 6 years ago and it was fine. A little old, but I didn't feel unsafe.
It was certainly no sketchier than Adventure Land or any other amusement park I've been to.

Thanks everyone. I realized my post sounded a bit naïve. But I did not how to word it.

Re: Rye Playland
I've been going every summer since childhood and now I take my own children and we love it. It's affordable and great for kids and never super crowded. I love the nostalgic feeling I get there and the memories of the movie Big.
