Re: ROOMMATES

I had a roomate for a year and a half. I eventually grew to dislike her, but it was fun at times and I learned a lot. All in all, not a waste of time.

What about you?

Re: ROOMMATES

I had extended housing briefly when i went to college ...which meant that there were 3 of us in a room when there was supposed to be only 2 (we had bunkbeds)

Well i got along GREAT with one and the both of us disliked our other roommate...We were the FIRST freshman to get out of extended housing
After graduating i was roomates with a soroity sister and it was wonderful....I left a year and a half later to go back to school.
Couldn't afford the apt so i moved back with dad...

But i have had only great experiences ...thankfully

Re: ROOMMATES

I had a couple and hated it just about every time.

One came from her mother's house who compulsively picked up after her. As a result she thought dishes magically moved to the sink and that newspapers float to the recycling bin on there own.

The other was a crazy chick...it was fun for a while because we hung out with all the same people and were dating good friends but she was such a liar and a bit on the lazy side (but not as bad as the first one).

Re: ROOMATES

had one for 2 months - and she was friggen weird.

She'd sleep with MY blanket when I was out of the room, even though she had her own.

She preferred MY phone over her own, and whenever I got back to my room, it would be under her pillow.

I went to visit Rich for a weekend, and came back to a SLEPT IN BED!!! She slept in MY BED, even though hers was in the same room.

Sooooo weird....I moved in in Sept, Moved OUT in November. I couldn't deal!

Re: ROOMATES

I had them all through college.....

freshman year they were losers (didnt party at all, etc) so I stayed out most of the time and eventually moved in sophmore year with a bunch of friends (none of which I talk to anymore)
junior year I was with 2 friends and an acquaintance. The acquantaince slept with my friends boyfriend so that was the end of that!
senior year I was with 3 friends and it was great.

Re: ROOMMATES

I had basicaly good experiences with the roomates I had. I was tripled my first year (was only suppoed to be two in the room) - all three of got along really well. We were offered to detriple at some point, but we decided we were fine the way we were. The next year I lived with one of the girls, adn the other was down the hall. And my last two years I had my own room, but in an apartment with the girl I dodn't live with my second year and her friend.
I think, for the most part, I was pretty easy going, so there were never any big problems. They would piss me off sometimes, but I never said anything and would just let it go.
When I moved in with DH, he was living with another couple (friends of his from college) and I was about to crawl out of my skin to get out. Mostly b/c they were very unfair with having dogs that I ended up taking care of - the girl even would dog sit for these rich people and get paid good money to stay at thier houses for weeks at a time and I would get stuck taking care of her dogs for NO MONEY b/c the boyfriend had opened a store and wasn't around much. GRRR- can you tell, I'm still a little bitter?!!Chat Icon Chat Icon
But, I think that experience made living with DH a breeze, b/c during when we might have had an adjustment phase, I was so livid with the roommates, I hardly ever noticed any problems with him!Chat Icon

In college only. When it came time for me to go out on my own I was determined to be able to do it totally on my own. I didn't want to have to answer to anyone about why I left dishes in the sink, etc.

Wanted to add a story -

one of the "friends" I lived with sophmore year....one day I was looking for a dress of mine and I couldnt find it anywhere. I forgot about it for a few weeks.

One day I was hanging in my suitemates room and I saw my dress hanging in her closet!!!! She claimed that I dropped it when I was moving in! So she just took it and hung it in her closet!!!!!!

Uopn further investigation she had another suitemates jeans in there too!!!!!!Chat Icon

Re: ROOMMATES

The first year of college I was tripled up in a double room. One of the girls I guess didn't like me and the other roommate and cried for 3 days straight until they moved her out Chat Icon

After that it was just the two of us and we got along great. I totally loved it.

The rest of college I had great experiences as well.

In my late 20s I was living with my ex boyfriend in a two bedroom and his friend moved in about a year later. It was working great and we all got along wonderfully. That was until the friend started dating this chick and then she moved in too. She was awful. She never showered, never helped clean and wore the same clothes every day. My ex and I called her bag lady. It got so bad that we stopped talking and I told her she was only allowed to hang out in her room. I shutter just thinking about her. Eventually I moved out and the friend broke up with the bag lady. Oh and what did she do for a living?? She was a dominatrix!!! Boy do I have stories!!

I don't know how you guys did it, and give anyone credit if it does work out.
Even the best of friends can get on eachother's nerves, so to live with a person I can't trust,,,,,,,,,,,,,,NO WAY!

I have had many, many roomates, mostly the 10 years after leaving high school - through college and after. I had mostly good experiences, but a few interesting ones as well. Chat Icon

I had a roommate my freshman year in college and that was the last time. She was cool, but I soon realized that I enjoyed my own space.

Re: ROOMMATES

Let's see...I went to boarding school for high school, and then away to college, so I've had tons of roommates...A couple of the interesting ones...

Junior year college: One roommate refused to chip in for toilet paper, so we all kept our own roll in our room and you had to bring your own toilet paper down the hall to the bathroom to go. Same roommate sued another roommate whose dog ate through her computer cable.

Soph. year, high school: Roommate was a drug dealer who got caught and kicked out....Also drank an entire bottle of cough medicine for a trip before our formal Christmas dinner...

Re: ROOMMATES

In college in the dorm, I had a roommate and 2 suite mates. We got a long fine and lived togethe rthe next year. Then my junior and senior year, I lived in a house with anywhere from 6-8 girls and one bathroom. All was fine for me. Of course there is bound to have someone or somtheing get on your nerves but you go with the flow and can't be nit picky. I talk to almost all the girls on a regular basis so it couldn't have been too bad at all! : )

After college when I lived in the city, I moved in with a good friend and we lived together maybe 3 years or so. It was different but fine. We are still good friends as well. Our first apartment was fine but we had to suddenly move and we only could get a railroad apartment and I hated it very much. It made me very happy to live on my own once she got married. I was always scared to live on my own but after this I couldn't wait to get my own place. Until Dh moved in....

Re: ROOMMATES

I didn't get along with my first college roommate--but it wasn't as bad as some other pairings in our dorm. We mostly ignored each other.
My sophmore roommate, was sort of a set up by an acquaintance & she is one of my best friends now.

We lived in a suite with her friends & they went all bitchy on us b/c we didn't like to go to bars with them.

My actual roommate & I got along great & lived together the next 2 years with my friends & there were a few issues amongst the rest of them, but I got a along with all of them.

After college I lived my a friend form college for a year & a half & we got a long great & are still friends.

Re: ROOMMATES

i had roommate all through college. Varying from the "open minded" roommate who would have sex while we were in the room - I'm not talking mistaking us for sleeping. I mean 8 people drinking to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - they'd get up go to the bathroom...

Best was senior year roommate who I'm still close with...

Re: ROOMMATES

ewwwwwwwwww I had a horrible room mate when I first moved down to florida...she was terrible! Way into K...alll the time I hate when she would use my baking pans to cook it up in the oven!
One night she was k'd out she and her girlfriend and hte guy across the hall started breaking into poeple's cars downstairs from us and they broke into one of our others neighbors car's and were to drugged up to know it. Someone saw them and called the cops, then the cops were in our place and they had drugs out in the kitchen...ugh bad memories.
