when abbys spitting up was really bad we put it in EVERY bottle she was also on neutramigen and the ped told us it was improtant for us to do every bottle because neutramigen is predigested and is MUCH thinner then other formulas so the spitting up with most likely increase with out adding the cereal. we also had to use RTF because it was a little thicker and eaiser to tolerate.

the ratio we were told to use was 1tsp of rice per 2oz of formula ie: 4oz formula 2 tsp rice. and make sure you warm it so the cereal thickens. we found earths best to work the best in the bottles.

ETA: by the time dd was about 5 months old we were able to cut out the rice and switch to powder and shes doing great now at 9months! good luck!

our doc is against this- you'll find this is one of those things that people have varying opinions on

She doesn't have reflux but she spits up alot. Ped said to put it in every bottle-1 tsp for every 2-3 oz.

Once we switch to Nutramigen, should we still put the rice in it?

My dd is gaining weight still so the dr isn't that concerned.

I put cereal in both my boys bottles. They drink ALOT and the ped. advised it to help with reflux from drinking so much and also to help fill them up more. I only put 1 tsp. per 8 oz. bottle but I think the recommendation is 1 tsp. per 4 oz.
