Renovation help... suggestions please! (with pic)

Some of the archways in the downstairs of the new house are 90 degree angles and some of them are cut in like in the picture below.

I'd like to make them all 90 degrees--have you ever cut in to the sheetrock and then fix up the edges? Is it a big huge undertaking? Am I going to bite off more than I can chew?

If so, has anyone ever hired someone to do something like this?

I am attaching a picture of the previous owner's dining room... (right now it's empty and waiting to be painted!)

Is it bothering you that much? Is probably not that hard of a job unless they have that steel corner trim behind it. If your not that handy I would call a general handyman because it seems easy. Does it other you that much that it's worth paying someone o fix it? I don't think it looks bad...

Generally those arches are framed with a 90 degree corner and then a 2x4 is added on the 45 to make that angle. It isnt a big deal to remove.... Once you cut back the sheetrock and get out the 45 degree piece, the 90 you want should already be done...
