Removing mirrored walls

We have full mirrored walls in our home (circa 1980, lol) and are in desperate need of a professional to remove them. DIY seems out of the question. They are likely glued on since there are no mirror clips evident. Does anyone have any suggestions for who to hire? How much it may cost, etc.? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!+

Re: Removing mirrored walls

We have the same thing in our living room and decided to leave it. We got a couple of quotes over $1K to remove them (from what they told us, it seems like a pretty quick job and did not justify the huge price tag). Honestly, I'm glad we kept them since they make the room look larger (however, there is also a large fire place on that wall as well, which makes it look a little better).

Re: Removing mirrored walls

its rather easy to take them down just you would need to put new drywall up. You tape the mirror as much as possible then tape a large tarp over the mirror then use a hammer. have heavy duty gloves to peel off whatever doesn't fall down on some trash bags you should lay down on the floor. OR you can just cut with a blade around the mirror and take down the drywall at the same time (still tape the mirror and put bags down.) Then find yourself a drywall person Chat Icon

exactly what I was going to say- they do it on HGTV all the time- I would go to the website and search it- you probably can find a video to show you exactly how to do it- but it never looked difficult

I am sure it could be a diy, but the mirror would probably be very heavy and could potentially shatter, so the headache and potential danger are just not worth it to us. I didn't know it would be ~$1000, I thought more like a couple hundred. The den and master bath have this problem :( We are located in Setauket if anyone has the name of someone good to call for this. TIA!
