Remember Cailen's teacher who texts when I'm there?

Well, she did it AGAIN yesterday - right in front of my face, and had the audacity to keep saying "Huh?" and "What?" as I'm talking to her!!!!

There was another teacher in the room holding an infant, and toddlers all over the place. It really bothered me knowing if she was doing it in front of me, then it has to be happening all day!!!

So, I finally went to the supervisor after I got Cailen, and asked her what the cell phone policy was there. she told me NO phones are allowed out in the rooms at all, and when she saw my face, she asked "Why? Was it ____?"

I told her yes, and she said she always hides the phone when the supervisors come in, or says it was charging when it was out (even that - they should say - you have the whole night to charge your phone!!! Seriously - why would it need to be charged during the day unless it is in CONSTANT use???)

Really - what job lets you text all day? Why would she think its ok to do when there are babies she is responsible for?

Anyway, the supervisor said she was going to report her immediately, and I knew that she would know it was me, which made me uncomfortable.

sure enough, this morning, she gave me such attitude. Didn't say hello to me or to Cailen, the other teacher spoke to us, and she didn't talk to me or even look our way.

she is 27 years old. She is going for her teaching degree in special ed. does she really think its ok for her to do what she did? Does she really think a parent will not get upset by that? She is going to take it out on me and my child because SHE was doing something unprofessional?

I am hoping she will get over it ASAP and at least be loving to my child. She could hate me all she wants, but I really hope she doesn't have any ill feelings towards Cailen. She already isn't the most nurturing person - the other teacher having the baby any minute now is - but Cailen loves her and she does a good job with the babies....


Anyway, just wanted to share and give you all an update on this....

Im not bothered by many things..but this would annoy the heck out of me!!!

I would be a little concerned that she isnt going to take proper care of Cailen though..(which Im sure is now a concern for you)..she sounds very immature and I could see this becoming another issue...KWIM?

you did the right thing. I would have been so pi**ed off if it were me. She was going against her job's policy, and more important, putting the kids in jeapordy by not having her eyes on them at all times. Hopefully she will act like an adult and not take it out on a you or your son. There is no reason for her to be upset, she was doing the wrong thing, what did she expect!!

You're better than I am.... I wouldn't have contained myself long enough to go to the supervisor... I probably would have said something to her (and it probably wouldn't have been very nice, lol). 27 is old enough to know better!

you had to say something...it is wrong for her to be on the phone while the kids need her

I also agree, you absolutely did the right thing./ What if there was something going on that she missed that turned out to be life threatening while she was texting or on the phone? She is a caregiver and that is unacceptable.

If she thinks she's going to be able to do that being a spec-ed teacher then well...

She's 27, she should know better.

It does concern me that they knew it was her, she's been caught before, maybe numerous times. I hope she either sees the importance of stopping or they fire her.

Very immature of her and unprofessional. You are better person then me beause I would have said something directly to her esp when she wasnt paying attention and saying "huh" or "what".

You did the right think. God forbid something happens when she is busy texting

You did the right thing! She has no right to be mad at you or Cailen...She was the one acting unprofessionally.

I had this problem with my previous day care. The "teacher/intern/teenager/afterschool worker/ ya get my drift Likes to wallk around with a IPOD!!!!!!!!!!!

She is just so stupid. I hope she knows a school district would kick her untenured a$$ out the door if they saw her doing that during classtime.

It's totally rediculous that she was giving you attitude. She sounds like a teenager.27??

I am so glad you said something about it. In my opinion, that is totally unacceptable. After you said that, I always ask my parents if the teachers in Taylor's room are ever on cell phones or texting when they pick her up and they said no.....but then they seemed to know exactly who you were talking about!

omg liza - def be upset w/ the situation - i'd be fuming. did u say anything about the fact that he was holding another kid's bottle?

what really got me was the time Cailen was carrying around another kid's bottle - I don't know if he drank from it - and I don't even know if it was breast milk!!!!
