Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

My Mom told me she was talking to DH today and asked for both MIL's email addresses to 'run a date past them'.

We are 16w2d - DH's 'busy season' is from May-September - we are due early August ...

So I assume our shower will be in June/July.. with a possibly of VERY late May... When should we start to put stuff on our registry?

I put a FEW basics on our registries (BBB & BRU) such as a stroller, pack n play, high chair, boppy. We were told what we were having at our ultrascreen but we have kept that a secret from our families until our 20 week sono when it can be 'reconfirmed'...

WWYD? or How many weeks were you when you registered? TIA

Re: Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

We registered at about 25 weeks...Many people wait until after their level II to register. IF you are keeping the gender a suprise until then, just wait a bit. Do ALL your research now so you have a good idea of what you need/want. I highly recomend the Baby Bargains books, many women on here have used it. Good luck!Chat Icon

ITA. Baby Bargains was a HUGE help. I registered when I was about 22 weeks.

i've already started registering for the non-gender specific stuff then once i find out what we're having in april we'll finish it up. we'll be cutting it close since my shower is in early june and my invites will be going out early-mid april.

Re: Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

16 weeks-we found out the sex at 16 weeks. I also had my shower at 28 weeks, so I had to register that early. There is no real hard and fast rule for registering-it is whenever you want to. IMO, I was glad we did early because I changed my mind a million times and baby registries are hard!

Re: Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

Like most, I was going to wait until I know what we are having to register but I will try to do some research on the general stuff that's not gender specific before that.

I suggest speaking with your mom, even if she wants to keep it a surprise and just let her know when you plan on starting to register. Just give her the heads up so that you don't have to rush and so that she can plan around you too a little.

Re: Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

My level II is March 12th, but we are staying Team Chat Icon , so we want to actually go in the next two weeks to start. We are going on vacation March 13th, so once we get back, we'll finish! I highly recommend the baby bargains book as well, and DH also bought the consumer reports baby book. I compared a lot of stuff in both and that's how we made our decisions. I have my list ready to go!!!

Re: Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

I would wait until 20 weeks.
like get a good idea of what you want to register for so when you get reconfirmed on the sex you will just shoot over to the store and add everything.
My sister was told she was having 2 girls at the dr and than when she went for her level II they said boy and girl.
Im actually waiting to go back next week (follow up to level II) to confirm baby sex. the time i went the cord was between legs

Re: Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

I registered for some big gender neutral stuff around 18 weeks or so. We waited until we found out we were having a girl at 22 weeks to register for the rest of the stuff.

Re: Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

I started my registry at 16 weeks and am still adding to it nad cnhaging things online as i go along. I started early because I was worried i would be put on bed rest at 6-7 months and didn't want to have to do everything online.

Re: Registering For Shower? (Weeks Question?)

I started early too! Around how far along you are. It took me a very long time and I have made sooooooooo many changes - I still do! I am glad I started so soon and did it little by little. It was less overwhelming that way and I had time to research and re-think everything.
