Registering for Bottles
I'm so confused as to what bottles to register for. My girlfriend had mentioned that some babies don't take to just one type of bottle, so I may need to change the type of bottle once I start bottle feeding. So I don't want to register for a lot of bottles that I won't use. What were your experiences?

Re: Registering for Bottles
With my DD, I went through a lot of different kinds. I picked up the Born Free to start with, and we will see how he does.

Re: Registering for Bottles
I just began my registry. I put on it the Playtex Nurser Gift set which has extra drop-ins, 2-4 oz bottles, and 2-9 oz bottles with nipples it's $30 and I also put on a 2-pack of Dr. Browns 9 oz bottles. I've read that the Avent bottles leak, I have a 2-pack of those on there too but contemplating taking them off.

Re: Registering for Bottles
I got Dr. Brown's. I didn't get a lot though and ended up buying a bunch more. This is really one of those items the giftcards come in handy for!

Are the Dr. Brown's harder to clean? I read/heard that all the extra parts inside make them much harder to keep clean.

Re: Registering for Bottles
I don't know, I am very very new at this and was very overwhelmed looking at the bottle wall at BRU. Is it worth it registering for a bottle sanitizer system?

I did, then received it, then spoke to friends about it who have babies and all said it is unnecessary, so I returned it.

I am so used to it, it's like second nature. They really don't take long at all. Plus you can also get a dishwasher basket and do them that way. I bought a ton of them so I often just set my powder formula up in them in advance and just add room-temp water and shake when it's feeding time. I keep the water in a brita on my counter.
I know some people return them though because of the extra parts. Whatever works best for YOUR household though.

Re: Registering for Bottles
so if I registered for a dishwasher basket I don't need the sterilizer?

Probably not. My SIL registered for one but that's only because she doens't have a dishwasher. Honestly, I use the dishwasher once in awhile, but I also wash them by hand most of the time too. Especially during the week when I don't run my dishwasher as much. You don't have to "sterilize" each and every time----just the first time. But again, different strokes for different folks ;).

Re: Registering for Bottles
Babies that reject a certain bottle usually do so if they also get breast fed because the nipple and the bottle nipple are different.
I started my daughter on Avent bottles and pacifiers and that is what she stuck with. At first she didnt want it and what not but i just kept on and now she likes it just fine. She will reject other pacifiers now though if they are not the orthodontic kind
Point being is that a baby may reject anything you put in their mouth at first, as a parent you shouldnt just assume you need somethng new, you can keep trying and they will accept.
I use Avent Tempo and Avent sterilizer.
I dont own a dishwasher though AND you are not supposed to put BPA free stuff in the dishwasher with dishwasher liquid stuff. Washing by hand is best.

Re: Registering for Bottles
It all depends on the child, your child may like one bottle over another. I registered for 3 different types that I liked. Just dont open up all of the packages until you know which type your child likes.
