Re: Recycling Gifts: Do You Do It? (Thoughts & Feelings On It?)
I've never done it- though I've passed things on to people, but never in lieu of a gift.
The one time I know I got a regift I was kind of insulted- because I always chose nice gifts for this person and she never hid the fact that she regifted to others all the time- so I also wondered if she thought I was stupid enough to forget that she was a serial regifter.

Re: Recycling Gifts: Do You Do It? (Thoughts & Feelings On It?)
Yes i have. I sometimes get a lot of house-y type stuff for christmas and it just becomes too much. There's just not enough room, so yes, I have regifted, but only for things that I would keep if I could. Otherwise, they go to goodwill.
We received our first ABSOLUTELY obvious regift from the ILs last year. We received a porcelain nativity scene and even though DH and I aren't religious, I decided to put it out in case they come over. Well, as I was unbagging each figurine, I found handwritten ripped pieces of paper marking each spot the figures were stored in What a surprise was and then of course I had to tell DH, but they do no wrong in his eyes, so it didn't make a difference to him
Oh and we also got a few pieces of our crystal set (we received a major part of it for engagement gift) that they bought for us (never registered for) and that they picked out themselves. Again, DH sees nothing wrong with that
Let's see what we get this year!

Re: Recycling Gifts: Do You Do It? (Thoughts & Feelings On It?)
I just regifted for the first time ever. I took a Dunkin DOnuts card that my aunt gave me and I gave it to the mail lady but only because I was too lazy to go get her one, hahaha.
It depends...if its something I won't use and someone will love, I'd regift it. If its something that sucks, and everyone won't like it, I won't regift it.
In your situation, her taping is tack-central.

I've been the giver and reciever of a regifted gift. It doesn't bother me at all.

Re: Recycling Gifts: Do You Do It? (Thoughts & Feelings On It?)
I used a Border's GC to get a new Border's GC. Does that count?
I was going to regift it, but someone mentioned that they could see the date online, so I just went to the store to do it.

Re: Recycling Gifts: Do You Do It? (Thoughts & Feelings On It?)
I wish I could just throw away the crap I just got from my in laws.
2 cookie cutters (I NEVER NEVER bake...ever) - and now DH remembers her showing them to us last year as a gift she received from her job.
A really small wall inspirational religious calendar (I'm not putting it up - I just bought a brand new big one from disney with all the characters on it) Oh and she has the big one in her kitchen so I think this one was free.
and an ornament that is pretty but totally a re-gift.
and she gave both of her sons (my DH & BIL) NOTHING!!! Nothing nothing nothing. This is the part that really gets to me...how could you not get your sons ANYTHING! but yet they bought a new christmas tree this year...FOR WHAT!?!?!

Re: Recycling Gifts: Do You Do It? (Thoughts & Feelings On It?)
I have been know to do it when in a pinch but not for family or close friends and it's usually something small. I think it was nice of them to give you the gift card but I agree that they should have been more careful to remove their names first.
