random question
i am not ttc yet but i have serious baby fever. i was wondering if any of you have ever purchased baby items before being pregnant? for example, there are shows from my childhood or books that i would like my own children to have that i have considered purchasing. have any of you done this or am i just getting ahead of myself?

Re: random question
Ok I'll be honest. I have done this !!!
I have purchased 3 things. One is a toy I had as a child. The other two were items that were on sale really cheap when I worked for polo and were so cute I could not resist.

Re: random question
I personally have not. But I'm sure there are some out there that have... or at least they have picked out their registry items!
I also know that some people buy onsies to tell their DH or SO that they are expecting.
I didn't do that either. I just peed on the stick with DH!! haha!! I'll probably end up doing it the same way this time. I don't want to jinx anything (after having had a mc).

Re: random question
i have i bought this holiday apron this past xmas and it was one of those "mommy and me" sets. i thought it was so cute i couldn't resist. The mini one is put away with our xmas stuff but i was able to get use out of the adult one this past xmas.
Another thing i picked up was a cute Gap denim jumper thing that was on sale that i thought was too cute to pass up. i think it's 6mo. i have that packed away also.
other than that, i resist the urge and just buy tons of baby clothes for my friends kids. it scratches the itch temporarily and hopefully i'll get to use it for my own kids someday as hand-me-downs!

Re: random question
I just had to buy a baby gift for a friend, so while at the store I saw a onesie that said Daddy's Future Caddy and had a golf cart on it. My husband is a golf caddy and loves golf. Since it was green, it could go either way so I had to buy it. I figured I'd show him when we get a BFP.
Oh and we aren't even TTCing yet either
ETA: I have done a lot of research on what I want to register for as well. I don't believe in jinxing things either, but I do believe in the power of positive thinking.

Re: random question
I haven't. I know people who have and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I'm just too superstitious to do it. I have been very tempted though!

Re: random question
Ok, a few things.. but here's why..
1- a changing pad for a changing table (I can explain!! )
We got this off someone's registry for the baby shower but then never ended up going and heard she got another anyway....... and since we were TTC at the time and procrastinators at heart, we just never got rid of it and at one point we were like..... ooook, guess we have a changing pad! It's no sitting in the soon-to-be nursery!
2- bibs
I bought them for DH for when I told him I was pregnant. I had them saved for a few weeks prior to the BFP.
3- Two little kid books.. "Guess How Much I Love You" and "Mr.Happy"..
I actually got them for DH and told him they were for him to read to our baby one day I guess that was my sly way of getting away with getting something baby related, but not

Re: random question
Umm, I have a maternity dress because it was $7 at the Gap! And DH bought a roll neck sweater for LO because it was $4 and we both thought it was so cute and very "us"

Re: random question
The only thing I bought was the classic "What to Expect When You're Expecting" book. There's such good pre-conception info, plus the way it outlines early pregnancy (1-6 weeks) is helpful. I bought a few summer dresses that are made out of jersey (aka loose and flowy). Great for day, night, and when we get PG it will hide it until it's announced

Re: random question
The only thing I have is a collection of children's books which Ihave been collecting for years. It never had anything to do with TTC. I look at baby stuff all the time and DH and I have picked out our stroller already and even looked at crib bedding we like but that's about it. It can get a little heart breaking if you get too excited and things don't work out the way you planned.
Oh and I also have a "BUMP" tank top (means - Baby Under Manufacturing Process), that I bought a few months ago. It's sitting way in the back of my drawer. It's how I plan to tell DH when I finally do get my BFP.
