Random Acts of Kindness
After what has happened, I am trying so hard to focus on the good in the world, and starting yesterday I started doing small random acts of kindness. I NEED to, I need to know that good people still exist, and I know there are others right now who are questioning the world we live in and I want them to know that even in the smallest way, that there are GOOD KIND people out there.
For me, I go to DD every morning for coffee. The last two mornings, while I am buying my coffee, I have also been purchasing 3 - $5 gift cards. I leave and hand them to the next 3 people in the parking lot who are entering. I say nothing more than, Happy Holidays and I walk away.
I cannot TELL you the gratitude from people who have managed to stop me, or made it back out before I have pulled out. I dont want to accolades for it, maybe a thank you. Mostly, I just want people to know that there are good people. People have been FLOORED by such a small gesture, people have said exactly what I hoped they would, that it is nice to know there is still good in this world. Today, the regular guy at the counter told me, one of them men I handed it to, bought 5 when he paid and did the same thing.
I am not posting this to toot my own horn. I am not posting to be all "look what a nice thing I am doing." I do not want this to be perceived as me being on a I am posting it bc I hope that it spurs even one of you to do the same. When we are met with evil, I believe we need to counter it with good, no matter how small the gesture.
So please, if you can, take the time to show others that good still exists. I think we need it more than ever.

Random Acts of Kindness
I am all about random acts of kindness and paying it forward. Recently, I was on the only line at Stop and Shop and realized I forgot cat food. I asked the man behind me if he would hold my spot while I grabbed it. He said no. I paid for my items and turned to him and told him that if he had held my spot I would have paid for his groceries (it was just a few things). Hopefully he will be nice to someone else in the future. And then had to wait on line again to purchase the cat food LOL

I would be blown away by that, too! Please, I misted up when someone offered me a seat on the train the other day because I was carrying a big box. That NEVER happens.

I'm glad you posted your story. It's a reminder of how much impact the littlest things can make, and has already inspired me to do something good today.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
That is really awesome!! Good for you!!
At church last week the priest told us about layaway angels. People go into Kmart and ask for a layway bill and pay it off. I would love to do it. I could do maybe 100$. I don't know if they will able to find one for that amount or they just pull anyone. Also.. no Kmart by me. I could do toys rus though.
The priest said last year something like 250K was paid off by angels at Kmart alone!

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
We are up to number 5. Sent thank you notes and treats to my kids teachers, donated a toy for Toys to Tots and paid for breakfast for a employee today in the lunch room when I asked him about Christmas and he seemed down about it. He seemed very touched by it and it made my day. I printed out those slips of paper with each victims name on it so each person will know what we are doing.
I also plan on getting munchkins for our local police and have my kids drop it off to them and the firemen.
Thinking of others things.
