quick question......would you spend....?
6k.....
on a dining room set, which includes dining table with *2* 20-inch leaves, 6 chairs.....and a huge hutch and buffet (all one piece, complete with lighting).
assume you have looked everywhere else and can't find anything close to it, and it's a set that you'd have literally forever and probably pass on?
i've had my eye on this set for literally a year and half. can't shake it.
worth it or insane?
I can afford it, it's just that I never thought I'd be spending that amount on a dining set.
what say you?

If you can afford it, sure.
Which will keep you up at night: Not having that set and being annoyed that after a year and a half it's still not in your house, or having spent $6K on a dining room set? I'm guessing the former.

I know, I agree...I just need to hear it from others. I am so used to denying myself things. I get that Spender Guilt thing.

If you have the funds to spare go for it.
i wouldn't but that's just me. It's a lot of money. However, it's easy to say that having not been the person who fell in love with it. When I fall in love with things I hardly look at price tags. But right now in my life I couldn't do 6 g on a dining room set... I need to save my money for other things.

Yes, I would. In fact, I spent more than that on my dining room set - significantly more. IMO its worth it if it is the quality to last you a lifetime. With things like this - I'm in it for the long haul and for me its worth the $$. My parents have the same dining room set for over 30 years now - and, its still amazing. That is what I wanted for our home!

if i had the funds and i knew i wouldn't be another.
I have my parents dining room set which they purchased used so i think its considered antique now haha and i really still love it although it has wear.

I spent about that much on my set. For me it was worth it b/c it was the only set i really loved, it is very good quality and I don't plan on replacing it for a very long time.

If you can afford it and you love and it's good quality go for it! A friend of mine spent 10 k on a dining room set and it's still in perfect shape 20 years later.

I couldn't agree more. I think of it as an investment. I was given a dining room set from 1976 (it says the delivery date on the back of the china cabinet) It is solid wood even the chairs are heavy and its in perfect condition. I can't imagine what it cost, its a Drexel Heritage set and has lasted over 30 years.

Sure. That's what my Canadel set cost (a bit more) at Fortunoff's way back when.... But we actually had it made and shipped from a furniture broker in NC and although we had to wait 12 weeks, we saved about $2500 on the cost.

Absolutely, as long as it was a high quality set. A good dining room set will last a lifetime, and beyond. It's worth it to buy something of high quality that you love. One of the reasons that we don't have a set yet is because I want something that is more high-end, and it's just not in the budget yet.
