Questions for a potential Nanny
Hi Ladies, Can anyone help me think of questions to ask a potential Nanny? I am meeting with her this week. I have never met with a Nanny before, so aside from "what is your experience" and "what does a typical day look like" I have no clue...
My baby will be 5 months old when she would start working with us.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Questions for a potential Nanny
Hmmm...I might ask
1. What experience working with infants they have had.
2. At least 3 checkable references.
3. If they are trained in CPR.
4. Do they have a car/drive?
5. What do they like about being a nanny?

Ask if they are opposed to having a background check. Any reluctance could signal something isn't right.

Re: Questions for a potential Nanny
Definitely ask the CPR question and I would tell her that if she were to get the position she would need to become infant cpr/first aid certified.
I would also ask questions such as "what would you do if...." I think hearing what she would do in certain situations will help you understand what type of nanny she would be.
I would also ask how often she gets sick.
Ask for references and call them.
Ask what she is planning on doing in the future, to see if she will be available long term and not just leave you hanging....
Have you ever been in an emergency situation? If so what did you do?
Give me examples of problems you have encountered w/babies or children and how you handled them.
Ok, I just found a good sheet you can print up, lol.
Nanny Interview Sheet
I used to be a nanny and I appreciated it when the parents were thorough, also at the end ask if they have any questions for you. The more you ask the more comfortable you will feel
I would maybe also do a test run a couple of times, first have her there with you, then maybe alone for a couple of hours and see how it goes.
HTH Good Luck!!!
