Questions about introducing cereal (or oatmeal) and BF
We got the ok from the dr to start cereal with DS. He is 4 months...She said we can do 2x day. When did you BF and feed your DC? The container says 30 mins before he nurses or gets a bottle or after giving some BM/formula. What is everyone"s schedule? I gave it to him at 4, before he nursed, but then he didn't latch and I had to give him a bottle. That could just be a coincidence too...I don't want to stuff him either. He loved it though!!! TIA!
Also, do you use fresh expressed BM or keep some in the fridge? And if from the fridge, how are you warming it? Is microwave still a no no??

Re: Questions about introducing cereal (or oatmeal) and BF
I started DD around 4 months also, but started once a day. I would nurse her around 630 and 930 and give her cereal around 10-1030. When I went to twice a day again I did it about 30 mins after I nursed her, maybe around 5 or 530 depending on her naps.
I used pumped BM or fresh - whichever I had. If I took it from the fridge I would zap it in the micro for a few seconds and always mix and test the temp on my finger before I served it to my DD.

Thanks for responding! Glad to hear I can microwave for a few seconds...Anyone else have a different method/schedule?

Re: Questions about introducing cereal (or oatmeal) and BF
we waited till 6 months because EBF till 6 months has a lower incidence of obesity - also it was a lot easier just to give boob there is so much more planning for food - don't rush it - you have to plan to have a bib, spoon, bowl/food - and so much messier - around 5 months i started giving small tastes off plate of sweet patato or banana - also he ate well at 6 months and could have texture right away - BM is best till 6 months
our schedule was 7 BF 8:30 cereal
11 BF
3 Bf
5 cereal
7 BF

zapping BM in the fridge takes away some of the nutrients - best to heat in hot water

I had no issues zapping and losing nutrients bc I EBF 8-10 times during the day at that point, so I figured DD was getting enough nutrition that way.

Yea, I would feel the same way...Maybe I will alternate b/w water and BM, depending on my supply.
