Question re: Clomid
I have a very irregular period, not sure how irregular b/c I never wrote it down, now that I am TTC i wish I would have.
Will the dr. put you on clomid right away or something to help w/ ovulation and periods or will they make you try for a certain amount of time before that?
TIA

Re: Question re: Clomid
from what i know from a nurse friend of mine - clomid is a VERY serious drug that is given when other options are not working.
you have to be monitored while on the medication and shouldn't be on it too long.
again - i don't know anything other than what my friend told me...but just wanted to relay the info...

Re: Question re: Clomid
If your doctor puts you on it right away with out any testing then go see another doctor.

oh no i would never take any medications without some testing being done, lol, thanks though.
I did have some testing done right before we got married b/c i thought we were going to try right after we got married but we decided to wait and she said i dont have PCOS just a very irregular cycle all the tests she did came back fine
I have a new dr. now so I would like to see what this round of testing shows

i think your first step needs to be to get in control of your body. Start keeping track of dates, CM, ovulation, etc...
Keep in mind that just because you get AF it does not mean you are ovulating, etc..

Re: Question re: Clomid
this is a VERY touchy subject for some people - you will get several different opinons
im not saying jess is wrong, it is a serious drug i just dont know what other "options" you mean
i charted, used opks and tried for a few months
my dr. was an RE or IS a licensed RE but is not practicing as one now she is the director of obstetrics and gynecology at north shore forest hills and i trust he completely
i didnt have lots of tests or monitoring as other girls did i have a NON FUNCTIONING thyroid and my dr. gave me clomid about 6 months before this, my endocrinologist put me on metformin
i got pregnant my first month on clomid though it is a serious drug, it is VERY commonly used

I agree with Jess. If you are worried about your fertility, start tracking and maybe temping. You will learn so much about your body and give you a sense of control.

Re: Question re: Clomid
When I went to see my gyn for a annual I mention I was TTC and had irregular cycles. After some testing it was determined I had PCOS. The first medicine I was given was Metformin. That helped regulate my cycles, however I wasn't Oing every month. After being on the Metformin (which I still am) for a few months my gyn gave me a script for Clomid. I then decided to see a RE who has been closely monitoring me while on it. I am on my second cycle of clomid and in the 2ww right now. GL!

Re: Question re: Clomid
I will use it as my NFP as well. I will never go on the pill again. Or anything else for that matter that will mess with my hormones.
