Question: Next steps
Hey Ladies,
So this is me and DH's 8th month ttc and I am currently 10dpo but really feeling that i am out this month..maybe just used to those BFN's by now! Anyhow DH got an SA a few months ago and he is all good
I was wondering for those of you who are seeing an RE when did you decide to go (how many months of ttc). Also do i go to my gynecologist first and do they recommend me to someone? Should I wait a few more months? (im 34 btw)sorry all the questions just not sure what my next steps are!
Thanks

Question: Next steps
I wouldn't wait anymore... I just changed OB's (after 2 early MCs), DH and I have only been trying for about 6 months, but because of the losses we're ready to move on.

Re: Question: Next steps
I switched to a RE after three months of trying (six months off of bcp) but I knew I had PCOS and from ovulation kits wasn't ovulating.
Originally my OB/GYN prescribed me metformin for the PCOS, and my next step with that office would be blood test, hsg, and DH a semen analysis to go on clomid, so I decided that I rather do that with a RE.
I first checked with my insurance company to see if there was a wait period to see a RE and if I needed a referral from my OB.
Good Luck!

Question: Next steps
I would move on to a RE. If your insurance does not require a referral I would not waste time seeing your gyn.

Re: Question: Next steps
I would definitely not wait and go straight to RE. Best way to find an RE is word of mouth. It's very important to find someone you trust and an office you like. Maybe post on the IF board and ask for recommendations? Or search for previous posts about REs and see what everyone is saying. Dh and I waited a little less than a year. But we told then we were trying for a year, they don't check :)
Good Luck!!!,

Thanks for your responses all. Will definitely go to see an RE after AF rears her ugly head!

Re: Question: Next steps
I think it depends on your age. Also just an FYI most health insurance won't cover it unless you've been trying a year. Of course you can say you have, but when you have to call to get permission to go to an RE make sure you say you've been trying that long.
For me I jumped the gun because of my fibroid. After my OB recommended surgery I decided I wanted an RE's opinion and then had the RE do the surgery. Now after only about 6 months of trying post surgery I am going to start clomid because we are racing the clock in case another one grows back.
