Letting go -to- taking steps question

About how long did it take DC to go from letting go and balancing to taking steps? At what age did they do both?

Im just curious, esp if your DC was early with crawling and pulling up to stand.

TIA

Re: Letting go -to- taking steps question

My DS was early crawler, pulling to standing and curiser... but REFUSES to let go! He did take a few steps here and there to Daddy or myself...but that's it! He's 2 weeks over being 12 months LOL. Everyone thought for SURE he'd be walking by 10 months... he's def. showing them wrong LOL

Re: Letting go -to- taking steps question

DS started pulling up and cruising around 6-7m. At 8m he was letting go and standing for a few seconds, then either plopping to the ground or going back to holding on. He's 11m, and still doing the same things, except now he lets go, takes 1 or 2 steps and plops down and crawls instead.

Whats changed too, is that, he thinks for a few seconds then lets go, steps, then plops. He's really trying to figure out how not to fall. I'm so proud of him, because he took his real steps at 8m, running and crashing. I'm so glad he doesn't do that anymore and is more methodical.

Re: Letting go -to- taking steps question

DD is 10mos and has been pulling to stand since 8.5months. She lets go and balances for minutes and sometimes takes a step or two and plops down to crawl but wont take anymore. She thinks so hard about it, but won't do it.

Right now she just crawled into the kitchen stood, opened the cabinet and is currently throwing plastic containers on the floor laughing.

Off to clean up the mess!

I think this will be DD, she started letting go and taking steps at 11 months and is 12 months now and the amount of steps have been increasing. I think in the next month or so she will be full on walking

i never really stressed about his moving. lol. He started crawling at 8 months. Cruising at 9.5/10 months (i dont exactly remember. Chat Icon)

my issue with DS is his speaking or rather his lack of speaking. so the phrase in my house is "less walking more talking" ha!

Thanks all for sharing!

DS started pulling up at 6 months, fully crawling just before 7 months and started doing a bit of cruising. He is now 8.5 months and letting go and balancing for several seconds. Not attempting to take any steps yet.

I know what you mean with the talking, DS just started babbling this month. He only says baba and yesterday it sounded like dada a few times.

Liam was extremely early with all things physical. He was crawling at 7 months. He started cruising at 8-9 months and started full on walking (I barely remember he taking just "steps") and 9.5 months. He was roaring to go and at 2 hasn't stopped!

Re: Letting go -to- taking steps question

it really varies i think. my dd crawled at 6 1/2 months, pulled to stand 2 weeks later, and was cruising all the time another 2 weeks later. she's now almost 13 months - has taken steps here and there, has even walked straight across the living room with no difficulty - but 99% of the time refuses to let go. i thought she'd be walking by christmas and she definitely can walk - she's shown us that - but she also generally chooses not to and would rather hold onto something and walk.
