Question for working moms
Moms, do you see your LO before you leave in the morning? My DS woke at 7 for the day when he was little so I always saw him before I left at 7:30. My DD doesn't wake for the day until 8/8:30, so I'm realizing that I may not get to see her before I leave. How do you deal with it? Any words of encouragement?

Question for working moms
I get up at 5am and then wake my DS at 6am. I leave the house by 645 at the latest.
When I wake DS at 6 we snuggle in bed while my DH showers. The best part of my morning. We have been doing this since I went back to work at 8 weeks. THe only time I left and he wasn't up was once when I had to travel for work and once when he was sick and DH stayed home with him.

Re: Question for working moms
DD is usually sleeping when I leave. What gets me through is thinking about her excited face when I get home. Nothing beats that.

Question for working moms
I actually purposely leave early so I dont see her in the morning, I dont want to upset her or myself and this way I get out quickly and I look forward to seeing her at the end of the day!

Re: Question for working moms
I leave the house at 5:20 every am and both my DD and DS are asleep still. I too look forward to seeing them when I get home, but, sometimes, I get to see them via facetime for a few minutes in the am before my DH brings them to daycare.

Re: Question for working moms
I have about an hour and a half with DD most mornings. We get up between 7-7:30 and I dont leave for work until 8:50.
She also stays up late so we have about another 2 hours or so before bed time when I get home from work.

Re: Question for working moms
I see my DS for about 1/2 hour to an hour in the mornings, and if i get out of work on time, an hour at night. Since i'm not always home on time, those mornings are precious. I know i'll always see him then. I just try and cherish the time i have and know that the weekend isn't far off. His smile whenever he sees me, even if its for 5 minutes is precious.
it's hard when you don't see them all the time, i know!

Re: Question for working moms
So sorry I get about an hour with DS in the morning before I have to leave to take him to daycare.
Hopefully you can get quality time with her when you get home?

Re: Question for working moms
Yes. DD varies on the time she gets up- but it's always before I leave.
And 3 days a week I drop her at daycare so she has to be up.
The only time I don't see her in the AM is if I have to catch a SUPER early train or am away on business. And those times- it just makes our reunion that much better! (If you want to look at the bright side!)

Re: Question for working moms
DS usually wakes up before I leave for work. Sometimes he's up early enough for me to give him a bottle and cuddle before I leave. Sometimes he's just waking up (like this morning) so the nanny fed him, but I got a little hug in first. Rarely he sleeps late enough that I don't see him. Those mornings are rough, but I try not to make plans for after work so I know I'll get some time at night with him.
You adjust to whatever it is.

Question for working moms
I love that DD1 doesn't wake up before I leave on most days - then I can get ready without hearing "mommy, milk" and "mommy, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!" I can shower and get ready in peace! Lol.
DD1 stays up later than I do, so I have plenty of time home with her at night!

Question for working moms
It depends. 3 days a week yes bc I take her to her child care. The other 2 maybe if she is up before I leave. It sucks.

Re: Question for working moms
Usually I get to see DD long enough to take her out of her crib in the morning, get her dressed and make her bottle, then I have to hand her off to DH and run for the train. He usually takes DD to daycare. But sometimes she sleeps late and I don't get to see her until I get home.

Re: Question for working moms
This is one of the reasons we put LI house hunting on hold. We live in a third floor walk up in downtown Brooklyn, but we're very, very close to work. I am with the girls for about 3 hours before work and 3-4 hours in the evening.
But don't get me wrong...I'm seriously considering revisiting the house hunt for more space (which means a longer commute...)...

Re: Question for working moms
DS usually wakes up between 7-730... i either give him a bottle, then shower and get ready and he plays in the exersaucer in my room, or shower then feed him right after and get ready. We are out the door at 820 We don't really get quality time together in the morning... we are all just rushing to get out the door.

Question for working moms
I usually get to see at least one of them - DS 2 wakes up at 5:41 - my alarm is set to go off at 5:45. DS 2 usually gets up after I leave - between 6:30-7.
Like pp - I don't view the morning as quality time - it's chaotic. I get upset when I don't get to see them at nighttime before bed - like last night I got home right after DS 2 went to sleep.

Re: Question for working moms
Thanks everyone for your replies! I never realized how many mommies had to deal with this. I forgot when they are little how hard it is to have them see you leave. I forgot how much DS would cry when I left. I guess I only remember the good parts lol. Like some of you said, it might actually be better if she doesn't see me. I'm hoping after a few months, her schedule will even out so that she goes to bed earlier and she wakes up a little earlier. As it is, I get home with her by 4:30 so I do get quality time in the afternoon with her. I have to just focus on that time that I do get with her.

Re: Question for working moms
I wake her up.. always have. I have occasionally left while she was asleep but rare.
Id rather wake her up and spend some time with me. always.
When I leave and she's asleep I get grief from her later "why didn't you wake me up?" or "did you kiss me before you left"

I actually try not to, it's easiest for me and my husband if I leave while everyone is still sleeping.

Re: Question for working moms
I typically see them for 1-2 hours in the morning.. they get up super early though. I pay for it at night because we put them to bed early so I only see them for about an hour at night. It's not enough for me... I hate missing them every day.
