question for ebf moms of 5-6 month olds
How often does your lo eat during the day? My ds was on an every 3 hour schedule (which he made) so I've been automatically feeding him like that (EBF). He's 6 months next week and has recently not been eating much on that schedule and goes more like 4 hours. How long between feeding do you wait? I feel like 4 hours is a long time and that it won't allow him to eat much during the day.

Re: question for ebf moms of 5-6 month olds
DS is almost 7 months. I BF on demand when with him, but pump and leave bottles during the day. I tell my provider to feed every 3 hours 5 oz at a time. I plan on moving to 4 hours in July (9 months.) At that point, he'll be eating 3 solid meals a day.

Re: question for ebf moms of 5-6 month olds
I fed on demand when DS was the same age. Between 4-6 months he BF 6X/day. His schedule that he made was: one feeding during the night 6am 9-10am 12-1pm 4pm 7pm These times are approximate, but pretty close. His longest stretch was between the noon and 4pm feeding. I wouldn't worry if you are feeding on demand. He will let you know when he is hungry-just follow his cues. GL!

Re: question for ebf moms of 5-6 month olds
He was eating every 3 hours until I started solids. Now he goes much longer between feedings. I feel his belly is full with food and he isn't hungry. If he was, he would absolutely let me know. The feeding in the morning is quick. The afternoons are long and cuddly. Before dinner is the same. The evening is right before bed and he usually falls asleep on me.

Re: question for ebf moms of 5-6 month olds
By 6 months, it's completely normal for them to start spreading out their feedings. My son is 5 months and I EBF on demand (sort of- I work and bring him to daycare at my job, so his first 2 feedings of the day have to be at that time). He nurses 5 times a day: 7:30 11:30 3:30 6:30 9:30
