Question About Insurance Breast Pump Coverage

I have coverage for electric breast pumps (non hospital grades), but I have to contact the "Durable Medical Equipment" providers that contract with my insurance (Aetna). I went on and found a ton.

From experience, does any know of a durable medical equipment provider that covers either the medela freestyle or instyle? My friends recommend both of these models.

It would save me a lot of phone calls if someone else has already done the legwork.

Thanks!

you can look it up on the Medela site - enter your ins plan and it tells you what places cover and which Medela they carry...

Great advice, thanks. I found two places through there, and the freestyle is $150 upgrade. I am going to pay it.

Thanks, I am on hold with them now. Were they easy to deal with?

Yes they were very easy to work with - they emailed me a form, I emailed it back and my breast pump arrived 3 weeks later
There was no cost - the medela advance was free and is a great pump
If you have any questions, fm me - I'm sure I can dig up the paperwork and send it to you (although I did this last year - jan 2013)

Lady on phone was very nice. The medela advanced is included, no cost to me. If I want the freestyle, I have to pay $150 OOP. I don't know anyone with the advance, and many friends rave about freestyle, so I am going to do that. They are just verifying my benefits and will get back to me.

Re: Question About Insurance Breast Pump Coverage

just read a ton on these pumps and it looks like the only difference between the 57065 (Advanced Personal Double) which is covered by insurance and the 57063 Pump In Style Advanced are the bags.

the 57065 basic is a tan bag with a cooler for milk inside and the 57063 has a separate small bag for the cooler.

The pumps themselves are the same.
