Question about Hempstead area.
What's it like over there. I know it has a bad rap but has that chaged??
I have a friend who is looking to move and a lot of apt. complexes are coming up in Hempstead. Any feedback?

but it could be perfect for your friend...she should go there and see for herself. have her go at day and at night

Just went to HTpke the other day, border of WH and H....
NOT good.
I had to buy a vacumm part...and just to go from the car to the store (I was parked in front) a few gross men were staring me down...creeped me out...
VERY seedy, still.

ehhhhh, tell her dont do it. I drive through Hempstead on hempstead turnpike to get to my dad in west hempstead and I cant tell you how dangerous it is over there and you better not be out at night!
in fact not too long ago at the laundry king on hempstead tpke there was a shooting!

There are some areas in Hempstead that are OK. I think there are a couple of buildings in Cathedral Gardens, which is on the border of Garden City and those can be nice places.
In general, though, if it is a complex, it probably isn't in the best area.

South Hempstead is completely different then Hempstead.
It's tiny though - there are no apartment complexes in So. Hemp.
