Question about going to the doctor
I was wondering what kind of test should I ask for when I go to the doctor? What are the initial fertility test that a regular OB can do for you before going to see a RE?

I would tell your doctor what you have been through and then he or she will order the appropriate tests and/or refer you to an RE. My regular OB/GYN didn't do any fertility testing himself, but sent me directly to an RE after hearing how long we have been trying plus knowing my medical history. good luck!

Im going through this now. The first thing they will ask for are blood tests done on certain CD. Then an internal sonogram. They also want DH to go in for a sperm sample.. he wasnt' thrilled about that one!!!
That's what the OB is having done for me. Im sure everyone is different though. I don't think you can "request" what tests they do. They will let you kow the next steps though.

My dr ordered a sperm test for DH. She called w/ the results on Christmas eve and said there were some issues so we should go to a RE. She didn't do any of the testing herself. It's possible that some doctors do more tests though. My dr said she always starts w/ the sperm test bc it's the easiest.

I agree with this. I also did an HSG but personally I would recommend doing this after the results of the other tests.

CDs 3 and 21 blood work and SA for sure.
Mine also was able to do the HSG.

I went to my reg obgyn after 11 unsuccessful months of ttc #2.
He gave DH a script for SA.
After the results came back from that (normal) then he gave me a script for bloodwork that had to be done on 7DPO. My progesterone level was too low a 5.6 shoudl be at least 10 so he offered me the option of clomid. My doc used to be a fertility specialist before he switched to obstetrics. I am on 2nd day of taking clomid. Keeping my fingers crossed that this does the trick!
