Question about boosters

This friday my daughter might need to go in a car with a friend for like a 3-5 block distance. It would be a super pain in the but to get my friend our 5 point booster for this short trip but i could do it.

my question is, my daughter, who is 5 and is 44 inches and like 50 pounds, could i have her go in a no back booster for the short distance. I know she would sit properly for the short distance.

It just seems very convenient to have that type of booster exchange hands for short trips like this.

Question about boosters

My son is 6, in kindergarten and similar measurements. Currently, I still have him a full five point harness car seat. But, I have been thinking about this a lot lately because my ex just bought a second car and put a short backed booster in his one car without talking to me about it. He planned to just use it locally and still use the car seat for long trips. I did a lot of research and basically came up with that in theory high back boosters are safer than no back boosters but there is not enough research to prove that out. The biggest concern at this age is whether or not they will sit still. If you think your child can handle it and it is for short distances, I think it is considered acceptable to do it.

Re: Question about boosters

Its literally for the one off instances when my friend, who lives across the street from my daughters school might need to drive her a few blocks. My DD would definitely sit still. And this week they might just walk it but i was just trying to be prepared with an easy solution if they needed to drive.

Question about boosters

If she will sit properly - she meets the size requirements and age recommendations.

My son is almost 6.5 and I still have him in a 5 pt harness unless we're traveling with one of my younger son's friends (then he'll sit in a booster and the friend will sit in his seat). He's been asking recently since most of his friends are in low back boosters but, we're holding out as long as possible. He's 45 lbs and 46 inches.

I plan to keep my DD in a harness forever, LOL, but even I agree with this.
For that short distance, with her sitting upright and properly and not falling asleep or anything, I'd be 100% ok with it.

Thanks. I plan on keeping her in a 5 point harness as long as possible but I feel like now that she is getting older and friends are involved that within a 1 mile radius of the house or so that I need to have a simpler solution.

Re: Question about boosters

It's a short distance. I would go for it and I am also big on keeping my 6 year old in a 5pt harness for as long as possible.

Re: Question about boosters

My son is 6 but only 43 inches and 40 pounds. I use a regular booster for short trips in our friends cars. As long as she is buckled in and sits properly, it is ok..
