Question

Hi,
How do ovulation kits work? DH and I want to try in July, but i want to try for a girl, so i understand you should BD a day before ovulation...Do the tests give u a warning when u will be ovulating? And if I want to try for the girl, do i also BD after the ovulation day...Or just before.
I'm so confused by this.

I have time, but I want to be prepared.

The first time around we got lucky and conceived on the first try..so i'm kind of new at this.

The ovulation kit tells you when you are surging.. meaning you will ovulate the next day or two after the surge. So it tells you before you ovulate.

Not sure about when to BD to have a certain gender baby.. I'll take any gender at this point.

Ovulation kits will let you know when your LH surge is, which indicates that you'll ovualate anywhere from 24-36 hours after.

I don't know much about trying for boy vs. girl - but I do know that it's definitely not a science.. more of a theory based on what is known about sperm carrying male vs. female chromosomes.
