I have one but apparently the new thing is a steam oven. Two friends who just recently redid their kitchen did not get microwaves and instead opted for the steam oven. I think microwaves are on the way out….

I have one. I have a wall oven and I have the microwave above it. I do not use it often. I only use it to melt butter or soften things for baking. I sometimes use it for reheating soup.
If I have a meat dish that needs reheating, I use the stove top. I can't stand the taste of microwaved meat- bleh! I'd rather eat it cold- especially chicken!
DH uses it more than I do.
ETA: I could do without one, but I do need it for certain things.
Remember the 80s when microwave cookbooks were popular? I remember when we got our first microwave. My mom made everything in the microwave for months. Bacon, pancakes, stew, etc. yuck! Maybe that's why I'm sensitive to stuff being cooked in the microwave.

We never had one growing up. When I got married I bought one but only used it for popcorn like 5 times a year. I have not used a microwave in 3 years since moving from our first place.

I have one too but I don't always use it, not only because it's not good to use it all the time but because certain foods just don't heat up properly in the microwave.

We don't have one and haven't had one in over 6 years. We got rid of it when I was pregnant with our DS1. Just got uneasy about it. We built our house just over a year ago and we did not include a microwave in our kitchen design. The designer with our home builder was shocked. No regrets, never use one.

Nope, not since we moved into our house a year and a half ago. I miss it for melting butter and chocolate but that's about it. I hate microwaved food, so no biggie.
But yes, people are always SHOCKED when they find out we don't have one!

I have a microwave but the only thing I really use it for is to melt butter, make popcorn, and warm up leftovers. I don't actually "cook" with it.

booties that have removable inserts you can microwave to warm them up and then you sit on the couch with them- soooo warm and toasty on your feet!

I have one, but we rarely use it- maybe 1-2x a month if that. I prefer to use my stove top & oven when reheating things. I'm sure once I have children, I'll get more use out of it.

our good friends don't have one. they use a toaster oven. I don't think it is weird.
We maybe use ours once-twice a week. i would get rid of it. It is just so bulky and takes up a lot of counter space.

YES!! I recently saw a cookbook where they made a Thanksgiving turkey in a microwave... ewwww!

I have one but thats because the house came with one build into the cabinets. Before we moved into the house I didn't have one for 8 years. It wasn't until we moved in to our house that I actually used one to reheat food.
