QUeens Zoo? Thoughts?

I have never been to Queens zoo. I will probably be going on wednesday.
Please tell me what kind of animals are there & your thoughts about the place. Is it worth it?

I live close to it and went a couple times with my son when he was an infant bc I was home with him and it was a nice thing to do to get, exercise. For bigger kids it may not be as worth it, they have a petting zoo across the way which I think kids under 7 would appreciate, the zoo itself is small but does have a sea lion area which is cool. I think if you live close it is worth it, Hall of Science is there as well.

My kids ages 2, 6 and 8 all love it there. It is big enough to see a bunch of stuff but small enough that they don't get bored. I went a few weeks ago - Ducks, gators, eagle, sea lions, pudu, warthog, birds, puma, bison, deer, etc. The petting zoo with cows, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, llama, etc.

Out front they have some rides - not part of zoo but the kids enjoyed it. Frog hopper, carousel, small roller coaster, train and a spinning ride.

If you have young kids, under 3 they will like it. There isnt too much too see esp if the animals are out of site in their area. The bird area is nice and so is the petting zoo.

Bring lunch because there isnt a place to buy within the zoo

The zoo is great for little guys. It's a circle so you can't get lost. You walk over the pond, there are alligators, small wild cats, a bird aviary, coyotes, sea lions, bison, some strange south american pig, eagles, andean bears, wild parrots. there is also a playground, a carousel, a petting zoo and the ice cream man!

There are picnic benches by the sea lions but only a vending machine, so bring your own food.
