QOTD

today's installment will be a mish mosh of a few questions... answer all or some, but hopefully not none!!

1. Will you be reading books on parenting? Do you think it's a good idea to read these books by "experts" or just gpo by instinct or the advice of family and friends?

2. When you were a child, did you get an allowance? How much was it? Did you have to do chores to earn it? Would you do the same for your child?

3. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

4. If you had to pick a different city to live and and proximity to family or friends didn't matter, which city would it be?

5. Is there anything that makes you feel homesick, nostalgic, or sentimental?

Re: QOTD

1. yes I plan on reading books. but i don't plan on taking every word written to heart. i think certain things might work with certain kids and not with others. also, i would listen to what others have to say. just the same with the books though... i'll take it all with a grain of salt.

2. No i did not have an allowance. I started working VERY young though. but i would do this for my kids... and i would have a chore list outlined for it. i think it would be good for kids to learn the value of work and money.

3. I wake up at 6. I turn on the news and try to get out of bed at 6:10.. or 6:15 seems to be the time as of lately. I try to leave my house between 7:25 and 7:30. so all in all it takes me a little over an hour. i wash my hair daily too... and i make coffee each morning as well.

4. i'd LOVE to move to rockland county.. pearl river. if i had to chose anywhere... id say someplace fun... like new orleans... or maybe even south carolina. idk. i think i need to think about this q a little more.

5. music and smells ALWAYS make me nostalgic!!!!

I will read some books...to be honest I've already read a little of What to Expect When You're Expecting and The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy Chat Icon

2. When you were a child, did you get an allowance? How much was it? Did you have to do chores to earn it? Would you do the same for your child?

Yes, we always got an allowance for but we had to do chores around the house...it wasn't much...maybe $5 a week (there were 3 of us)

3. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

I get up at 6am, take care of our dog (DH takes care of the cats and rabbits when he wakes up), shower and get ready and leave the house between 7:20 and 7:30. I don't even have time to make coffee or have breakfast.

4. If you had to pick a different city to live and and proximity to family or friends didn't matter, which city would it be?

I would love to live in an area that's a little more rural...maybe some place in North or South Carolina.

5. Is there anything that makes you feel homesick, nostalgic, or sentimental?

For me also, music and smells are big ones. Also watching movies that I used to watch as a child.

Re: QOTD

1. I will definitely be reading these books, of course I will take everything I read or hear for that matter with a grain of salt. In the end, what works for my family may not be written in any book.

2. No I didn't get a set allowance. I had chores I was responsible for, basically keeping my room clean, helping ot clear the table. For the most part if I was well behaved and helped out a bit I was given money for whatever I needed, within reason of course. I'll probably do the same for my children.

3. It really depends on where I'm going. When I was working I wouldn't wake up until I had to be out he door in 15 minutes lol

4. Hmmm I don't know of an exact city but something with a small town feel. Like a Main Street USA.

5. If I'm away from DH and we talk on the phone it always makes me sooo homesick. It's almost better for me to not talk to him, I always end up crying.

1. Will you be reading books on parenting? Do you think it's a good idea to read these books by "experts" or just go by instinct or the advice of family and friends? I read a few books but I mostly rely on my instinct and mommy intuition. I feel VERY comfortable being a mom and I don't really find myself asking for advice or help just yet. I think so far I'm doing a pretty good job!!

2. When you were a child, did you get an allowance? How much was it? Did you have to do chores to earn it? Would you do the same for your child? Yes, I got an allowance but not sure how much. Throughout elementary schools we didn't get money, we earned stickers for doing our chores and after we earned a certain amount of stickers we got a little prize. I plan on doing the same with my DD.

3. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? A half hour.......longer if my DD is awake though.

4. If you had to pick a different city to live and and proximity to family or friends didn't matter, which city would it be? Boston, MA

5. Is there anything that makes you feel homesick, nostalgic, or sentimental? I think watching my DD now makes me sentimental about my own childhood. I remember it like yesterday and it was so wonderful........I love watching her have the same experiences. It's nice to be able to relive things again.

1) YES....I'm totally a "the more you know" kinda gal...

2) I had to do chores for allowance....don't remember how much it was (maybe 10 or 20 bucks??)

3) an hour

4) Vancouver BC!

5) Crossing the border into Suffolk County on the LIE makes me nostalgic (I just moved to Nassau after being in Queens for 8 years)
