QOTD!!!!!

Ok.... This is coming courtesy of my blackberry so please bear with me. I don't have computer access at work because I was deleted off the system!!

Would you rather live modestly and retire at 50 or would you rather live more extravagantly and retire at 65?

I know this is my own question but it's hard for me to answer. I think I'd rather live extravagantly and retire at 65 because I'm a pretty big activist for living in the moment because no one really knows what tomorrow will bring. I'd hate to be "saving" for a rainy day, or in this case waiting to live it up till I was 50 and have something happen that would inhibit me from enjoying life (like, sick, injury, death, etc). So because I think its important to live in the moment and enjoy ALL the time we have here.... We are only in our teens ONCE, in our twenties ONCE, thirties ONCE, etc. I'd have to pick the 2nd option. But the thought of retiring early is appealing. Really though I'm just hoping to retire before 35!!!! Hahahaha!!!

Re: QOTD!!!!!

I'm right there with ya Kerri!

I'd much rather live extravagantly and continue to work till 65...plus when we have LO's I want them to have everything. And every opportunity.

My dad unfortunately passed at 56 years old, which is also a big reason why I have this perspective Chat Icon

Re: QOTD!!!!!

Hmmm good question. I think I would rather live modestly and retire at 50.I mean you can still enjoy your life and have nice things and fun while living modestly right. And then if I retire at 50 (which would be awesome and 50 is still so young) I could have more time to spend with my kids and do things for them. Go on long vacations.....ahhh wouldn't that be nice. I mean don't get me wrong I wish I had a lot of money and was rich...who doesn't :) but I'm a big believer you don't need a lot of money to have a great life! It might just make it easier.

Re: QOTD!!!!!

Hmmm....I'm not sure...I would love to live modestly now and be able to retire at 50 so I could really enjoy myself, but I'm not very good with not splurging, etc now. I love just doing things that we want to now...

Maybe we should talk about this question again after I bring my little one home...That could change everything!

Re: QOTD!!!!!

I know it sounds silly but I can't see myself sitting around all day at the age of 50..... not that I'm a workaholic or anything, but I just can not see myself staying home at such a young age - I need to get out there every day and annoy myself Chat Icon Chat Icon

What happens if you don't live to 65? then you really never got to enjoy life. instead work all the time.
