Re: PW Crash Potatoes
Okay - can I ask - has anyone made them successfully? LOL. DH and I tried to make them and we failed. The potato stuck to the masher. Did we cook them too long, not long enough? I really wanted to make them and was bummed when it didn't work out. We ended up just making mashed potatoes instead.

Re: PW Crash Potatoes
I haven't made the crash potatoes, but I always put rosemary and thyme on my roasted potatoes.

Re: PW Crash Potatoes
I just made these tonight. So good! I don't use a potato masher, I smash them with the bottom of a heavy glass with a flat bottom and put a little olive oil on the glass to prevent sticking. I tried the potato masher and it was a mess.

Re: PW Crash Potatoes
I use lots of olive oil to prevent sticking and I also mash with a glass. I oil the bottom of the glass.
If you pre-cook them too long before mashing they will fall to bits.. so you've got to make them so they aren't a mush mess.. but soft enough that you aren't pushing too hard.
I use rosemary. I also have done a drizzle of garlic oil and some kosher salt. My hubs and kids like when I drizzle butter and add a little cheese in the last few minutes of baking. Then I put a dollop of sour cream and some snipped chives.. and a bit of crumbled bacon if we're feeling super adventurous.
