Pumping while away/traveling

I am going to my sisters wedding in Vegas by myself--I will be gone 2.5 days and will be pumping the whole time I am gone. Will I just have to ditch the milk I pump while I am in Vegas? I know on the plane ride home I will be able to keep what I pump--isn't pumped milk good for a while at room temp? Any suggestions to get the milk home from Vegas? There is definitely not enough time to ship it or anything like that. Thanks!

Hmmmmm... I'm not sure what the solution is.
But I can tell you that fresh milk is good at room temperature I think for about 4 hours or so.

I did this, but it was only 3 hr flight, so it all worked out.

I stored themilk in the bar frige, took out some soda cans to make room.

I had one of those mini cooler bags, I used dispsable ice packs and just refreshed them before flight.

If your comfortable with the idea, you can smell and taste it when you come back to make sure its ok. Compare it too freshly pumped. Its what I did and it was all pefect when we returned.

Use a cooler! If you refrigerate it while you are there, and bring it back in a cooler, it should be fine. Put it in those milk storage bags and it will not take up that much room. You should call the airlines and check their policy since it is a liquid. You may have to do something special. Don't throw it out!!!!!! Maybe you can even fit the cooler bag in your checked luggage and aviod any liquid issues? I know that you are allowed to bring bottles on planes, so you should be able to bring the milk. They may make you taste it in front of them, lol!

Freshly pumped milk is ok at room temp for 4-6 hours, but once the milk has been refrigerated, you have to keep it refrigerated. I am going to Vegas in September and also have the same dilemma. I'm not sure if I'm just going to dump the milk or transport it home with me. If I do decide to bring it home with me, I would carry it with me (if it's allowed) and would NOT put it in a checked bad. I would not feel comfortable having it out of my site. TSA can open checked luggage and I would not want them to open my milk and possibly contaminate it. I am going to check with the airline and TSA to see what the rules are because I know that you usually have to be traveling with a baby to carry liquid (milk) on the plane. Maybe the airline can put it on dry ice or something? I will let you know what I find out.

I just called TSA and they told me that you are allowed to carry BM on the plane with a cooler pack. You just have to declare it at the checkpoint. Once I'm on the plane, I may ask the flight attendants to keep it in a fridge (if possible). By the time I actually get home the milk will have been out of the fridge for close to 10 hours and I'm not sure that it will hold up with just a cooler pack for that long.
