Question about pumping...

Since I was having a little trouble getting Ryan to eat from the breast...Ive been pumping..and giving BM in a bottle for most feedings...

At first I was getting like 3-4oz when I would pump..now Im barely getting 2... Im pumping every 2hrs, 15 min on each breast...

Sometimes I still get 3-4 oz, but not at any specific time of day or after doing anything specific..

Should I try not pumping as much??? My husbands aunt said to have a beer, for it would bring on more milk...is this true ( I hate beer)???

Also- how many oz. should he be eating... Ryan will be 2 weeks on Friday and right now he is eating 1 1/2-2 oz (give or take a little) every 2 hrs. Should he be eating more??? As many of you already know Im very paranoid about his eating habits...

Re: Question about pumping...

I think your supply is fine. Right now I am aiming to get 1 oz from each side every 2 hours. Most of the time I only get 1/2.

I think as far as eating what I have been told is 2&1/2oz per pound per day. Not sure if that's a rule or not thought.

We don't quite make that every day but I can't shove it down my daughter's throat. When we try to make her drink more all we get is tons of spit up.

Is she still spitting up when you supplement with formula?? Ryan gets 1-2 supplements of formula a day (in the hospital he lost more weight than avg. so they wanted me to do this) Every time I give him his first formula bottle of the day he spits up (sometimes its ALOT) I truely thought it was from sucking so hard since he use to only eat from the breast..but now that he gets expressed BM I know thats not it... He never spits up the BM...and rarely spits up the 2nd formula feeding...any ideas what this could be from?

Re: Question about pumping...

When I was having trouble with BF, I read that eating oatmeal will help.
