Pumping at work - how do I make myself a schedule?

I go back to work next Friday Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon and I want to try to figure out a pumping schedule before I return. It's bound to be very difficult though because I'm a teacher and my schedule is a little different every day.

I always have lunch at 11:15 so I know I'll definitely pump then but I dont know if that's enough. I will drop DD at my mom's house around 6:30 and nurse her there before I leave. Then school starts at 8:00 and after homeroom I have a prep from 8:20 to 9:05. Should I pump then? And then at 11:15? The rest of the day it will be hard to pump until after school which is 3:00 so I was thinking I'd just wait until I get to my mom's by 3:30 to nurse DD again.

So, here's what my schedule would look like...

Feed DD at 6:30
Pump sometime from 8:20-9:00
Pump 11:15
Nurse 3:30

Is that okay? Should I stick with that schedule on the weekend too? I'm already so stressed out about this!

Re: Pumping at work - how do I make myself a schedule?

Your schedule looks good to me.

I went back to work before Spring Break ( I am also a teacher). Because of my schedule I only have one prep a day, so I have been pumping only at lunch and have been okay. So your schedule is pretty much the ideal I think. You might feel full by the time you get to your DD but you should be fine.

I would try to keep the schedule on the weekends, but that is easier said than done. I try to keep the same schedule but it doens't always work out. But even when I am off schedule I can still pump as much as normal.

Re: Pumping at work - how do I make myself a schedule?

I have never been a great pumper. So personally, for me, that schedule wouldn't work because I wouldn't get enough. When I would pump for DS I'd be lucky if I got 2 oz per side.

Have you already started pumping? Do you know how much you get per session? Have you started to build a supply for the freezer?

Not sure how DD does at night but maybe throw in a session or 2 if possible at night to help keep up your stash?
