Public toilets with the sensor that flushes automatically

Does anyone else hate these?! I know they were a great invention for those who just "forget" to flush after using the bathroom Chat Icon Chat Icon but I very often find they flush WAYYYYYYY too soon!!!!! I actually really dislike when they have the automatic ones.

I understand it's meant to keep the bathroom cleaner... but what about the people who pee all over the seat and/or floor? .. And what about those who leave open used pads on the floor around the toilet? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Those automatic flushers don't ward off the remnants of those unhygienic jerks!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

So, like I was saying.. nay to the automatic flusher. I'd rather it flush when *I* say so. Anyone else here agree? Chat Icon

Hate them!
In my house they are called magic potties. My 3 year old DD refuses to go on them because she is so scared of how they flush when she is on them. I don't understand why they either always flush too soon or they won't flush at all when you want them too!

Re: Public toilets with the sensor that flushes automatically

Since I hover, they never work for me.
They will either flush on me mid pee and spray my azz with kick back Chat Icon or they won't work at all and I will have to struggle to push that little button thats a PIA to find and push to get it to flush when done.
They need to perfect that technology! Chat Icon

Haven't done it personally, but I know people with small children that put a post-it note over the sensor until they are done

Re: Public toilets with the sensor that flushes automatically

It doesn't bother me. Most have a small button that you can push to flush it again anyway, so I use that if I have to.

I hate them. My daughter is afraid of them. They are loud and unpredictable. Very frustrating to take a child into. Never knew about the post-it trick. I'm going to have to try that.

Re: Public toilets with the sensor that flushes automatically

My daughter is deathly afraid of the self flushing toilets. Every time we go to the bathroom anywhere, even in people's houses, she asks if it's going to flush while she's sitting there. Very annoying for a kid that's newly potty trained when they are scared to sit on any toilet because they're afraid it's going to flush.

Re: Public toilets with the sensor that flushes automatically

It's like a timed race, can you pee before it flushes? Most times, no.

I hate automatic flushers.

Not a fan of automatic sensors. I feel like I'm in a race to beat the sensor. What also bothers me are flushes that are so strong that the water spews up out of the bowl and on to the seat and surrounding floor Chat Icon

Re: Public toilets with the sensor that flushes automatically

If the flush is timed right with the sensor it's a beautiful thing.

I find sitting or hovering is bad if it flushes too soon.

Why would it be worse for hovering? If your butt is on the seat you are closer to the water.Chat Icon

My aunt told me she carried post its in her bag and put it over the sensor for her kids because one flushed on her DD who was newly potty trained and she untrained herself and refused to go for several months! Poor thing!

I am going to go out and buy some!! My DD is so afraid of them she woke up this morning and told me she never wants to go back to the restrant we went to last night because of the "magic potties." I think she will be so happy when I show her this trick.
