Progesterone Suppositories
So, I'm currently on progesterone suppositories (capsules). I'm doing them 3 times a day (200mg) and I'm going to be 7 weeks tomorrow. When I went to the doctor on Wednesday he took my progesterone levels and said I could stop the suppositories. But here's the thing...when I got my BFP, my progesterone was 41. Now I asked for my level and she said it was like 31.4 or something. So it dropped substantially. I just don't know if I feel comfortable going off of them.
For those of you who were (or are) on progesterone support, what do you think of this scenario?
Thanks so much!

Re: Progesterone Suppositories
lauren, i was on them for the beginning of my pregnancy. i never found out exact numbers, but i was on them for the whole 12 weeks. the re told me 12 weeks and the regular ob, thought that was long but didn't challenge it.
is this the re or regular ob? maybe there are different schools of thought on this. sorry i don't have any concrete advice!

Re: Progesterone Suppositories
Thanks, Lisa.
It's my RE. I called this morning and I'm going to ask for more progesterone and see if its a problem to stay on them. Better to be safe than sorry, right?

I am not sure what the numbers are range wise but I was on those suppositories 2X a day until week 12.

Re: Progesterone Suppositories
I was on them and my progesterone never went up. They told me as long as everything else was going okay...the other numbers and the baby was growing it really was not important anymore. After a while the placenta takes over....something like that.
Good Luck
I was on them till 12 weeks

I was told after 8 weeks the placenta completely takes over so no to worry.

Re: Progesterone Suppositories
I was on them due to my levels being low in the beginning of my pregnancy - I was on them until my 12 week.
But my numbers were below 10

Re: Progesterone Suppositories
I find it odd that they would stop you before 8 weeks too.
I was on the shots until 8 weeks and was VERY nervous to come off them, but they assured me that at 8 weeks the placenta takes over.
I would call just to make sure.

Re: Progesterone Suppositories
I think you should listen to the Dr. or ask him to explain why he thinks its safe to come off of it.
I was on prog. (pills) until only 10 weeks...but my dr said it was just to be on the safe side, to prevent the uterus from contracting/cramping. I probably didn't need it, and being that your prog levels were normal in the first place, you probably dont need it either.
