Re: probiotic moms
I don't give my kids an oral probiotic, but they do drink milk kefir (lifeway brand) several times a week.
My kids used to get sick with a fever every 6 to 8 weeks. I then changed their diet--eliminated almost all processed foods, very little refined sugars, etc. and I'm happy to say that they have only been sick with a fever once in the past year.
I used to get bad seasonal allergies, sinus infections, etc. since changing my diet my allergies are completely gone, I rarely get sick. If I do catch a cold it's always after I have eaten badly, but I'm usually able to rebound in less than a week. I drink a lot of probiotics in the form of kombucha, water kefir and milk kefir.
In my personal experience, diet is huge in how effectively the immune system works.
