After Ben's acceptance speech for Argo, I'm even MORE convinced this is NOT about them. Just the way he thanked her and she choked up. Ugh I love them.

I thought the same thing.

They seem so real as couple, not hollywood like at all. I hope they stay together!

True! But he seemed pretty nervous, shocked, excited about winning and if they were really in trouble I don't think he would have said what he did during his rambling. Chat Icon

ITA with all of this! His speech and her reaction made me choke up.

I'll be so upset if this is about them.

I don't know - I listened to the speech live and again this morning. I felt badly listening to him speak, it felt awkward. All relationships are work, but to be called on the carpet about it in front of the world, made me feel badly for Jen. You could see he loves his kids but I have to be honest, I did not feel that when he spoke about Jen. It was the first time I felt that way about them. I just wanted to pull a blanket up and say no. I would have been upset if my SO said that about me. I can't help but feel badly for her. I truly hope for their sake that it was just nerves and shock on his part.

I hear you on this but I wonder if these blind items sometimes do harm....like, maybe a couple IS struggling but they are trying to work it out and then something like this comes out, KWIM? I think his comments about her were very heartfelt and maybe they have had some trouble but they are working through it? Normal couples go through ups and downs and sometimes things get really rough and they still stick it out - can you imagine going through that coupled with rumors swirling about your relationship all across the globe?

Re: Pretty sure this is Ben and Jen - blind item...

I think the answer lies in how you interpret the last line of the blind:

There aren’t many clues in this one, but we will tell you this: don’t look for any hints on the red carpet of the Academy Awards next week.

The way I read it, I would think that it wouldn't be anyone on the red carpet at the Oscars. To me, it's saying not to look for any hints there so it can't be anyone on the carpet.

Jen & Ben were on the carpet together.

I just really hope it's not them Chat Icon

I thought what he said about that was odd also.
But I remember reading when he was filming this, since he was directing, producing and staring in the movie, that it took a lot of time away from the family.
So I want to think that's what he was referring to.

At least I hope so.

I didn't take it that way at all.

I took that line to be: they will show a united front at the show.

I'm convinced even more now that it's Julia/Danny from this line:

This is pretty ironic (and karmic) given that both were known to be cheaters in their previous relationships!

I figured that karmic is a clue so I googled Julia Roberts + Karma and found that she converted to Hinduism!

Also that the BI said that her husband is in the movie business, they didn't mention specifically that he is an actor.

I'm still standing by this.

This is EXACTLY how I saw it! I was surprised when I came on here and everyone thought it was so great. I thought it was really uncomfortable to bring up "working on your relationship" as part of your Oscar speech.

Despite what I just said about the red carpet clue, I actually think it's them too because I literally could count on one hand the number of times I've seen them photographed together BUT the most recent picture of them, they were holding hands which and there was a specific mention of hand holding in that blind item.

I think it's Julia Roberts and Danny Moder for a lot of the reasons mentioned on this thread.

Also, in the BI it says not to look for clues on the red carpet, and they weren't at the Oscars this year that I can see, so they weren't on the red carpet. I think that line was a big clue.

But marriage is work. And like he said, "but it’s the best kind of work, and there’s no one I’d rather work with."

I don't know. I don't think he meant it to be a bad thing. He was trying to rush through and it just came out wrong. My marriage isn't in trouble. I would still say marriage is work.

I agree with this.

I don't think he meant to say it as a bad thing or a slight in any way. I think he was trying to rush through and really didn't have anything to say planned. I was watching her face, which seemed amused and perplexed all at the same time. The making of Argo was incredibly quick and he not only directed, but starred and produced it so that took a lot of time away and that puts a lot of pressure on her with 3 kids. They may have gone through some tough times because of the hectic work schedules and so it takes work.

But let's be honest - marriage DOES take work....even good marriages. He was making an honest statement about marriage.

I agree. I marriage is work even when things are good. I don't think he meant it in a bad way. I still say the blind item was about Julia & Danny
