Preschool Snack time?

The parents are asked to bring in snacks for the entire class. They gave out a list, but I have found that most parents always bring in the standard pretzels or goldfish. I occasionally bring in different apple sauces and homemade muffins to try and mix it up. Chat Icon

I was going to bring in cheese and crackers tomorrow with the cheese in the shapes of leaves & acorns. Chat Icon

So my questions are:

1. Do 3-4 year olds eat Pepperoni? (My daughter is extremely picky, so I don't know what the average child eats. In fact, my daughter probably won't even touch the cheese!)

2. What cheeses would you suggest? Do I use the standard Cheddar, Colby and Swiss? Do 3-4 yr olds eat that?

OR

3. Should I just bring in Goldfish!?! Chat Icon

LOL!!! You have no idea how hard it is for me to judge what kids will eat b/c my daughter is horrible! She eats like 4 things! I just assume all the other kids will turn their noses up at it too! Chat Icon

What a cute idea!

I would go heavy on the cheddar and colby and throw in a few swiss and pepperoni. I don't know many kids that like swiss and pepperoni but they might be more willing to try it when they see their peers eating it.

Re: Preschool Snack time?

I am one of the parents who bring in snack for DS's class as well (ages 2 to 3). They have the standard Gold Fish and pretzels but also animal crackers, Ritz Crackers, Pirate Booty (BIG favorite), dried fruit snacks (strawberry/banana, apples, pears) and Wheat Thins. Due to a variety of allergies in the class, they tend to say away from some dairy products unless a parent brings it in specifically for their child. However, when I have seen it it's been string cheese or cheese cubes already cut (cheddar, mozzarella, colby jack).

I think the pepperoni and cheese is a great idea though.

I agree.

I know my DD wouldn't eat the pepperoni, but monkey see, monkey do.

Re: Preschool Snack time?

We have healthy snack wednesdays in our school too Chat Icon

Most kids LOVE cheese - sometimes I send in a package of string cheese - the kids in her class always request the twirly ones (with colby and mozzarella swirls).

My kid wouldn't eat pepperoni but that's because she's a veggie, and her school is parve Chat Icon

Other snacks I frequent - rice cakes, raisins, apples, dried fruit, grape tomatoes, carrots...

Re: Preschool Snack time?

Ella will eat salami but not pepperoni - too spicy. She's a cheese fan, but I don't think she'd eat the swiss.

Re: Preschool Snack time?

That's adorable!!!
Lily is a picky eater also....but she loves pepperoni and cheese so she would be all over that snack.
I also find that kids eat things when they're cut into cute shapes, so I think that'll go over big!!

Re: Preschool Snack time?

Ava would totally eat the cheese and crackers, but I wouldn't want her eating pepperoni since we don't eat meat, and she might not know not to eat it.
But that's my kid.
I think it's a great idea. I also like cheese and apple slices. That's usually a hit with Ava.

My kids would eat pepperoni, but you should make sure there are no milk allergies before you bring cheese.

As far as I know, there are no milk allergies. They list the allergies on a bulletin board and so far it's just peaches and apple juice. And I'm pretty certain they give the children milk during snack time, unless they want water.
