Prenatal Massages?
Does anyone know if they are still safe in your 3rd trimester???
I am thinking of calling my OB tomorrow to ask bc I have such knots in my back & would love the opportunity to have a massage. DH is great at it but doesn't understand the term "gentle" & thinks he needs to use his force to get kinks out Needless to say, it is not working!

Re: Prenatal Massages?
Yep, that's when I had both of mine. Sandalwood Day Spa in Massapequa was great and Rain Day Spa in Woodbury was amazing.

i had my last one at 36 weeks - heaven!
if a masseuse is experienced in prenatal massage it will be no problem at all.

I have a gift certificate for one too, but I don't get how it works. I can't lay on my stomach. How do they do it? On my side? Do they have a special table with the middle cut out?

Some places you lay on your side and other places they have special foam pillows where you can lay face down without crushing the belly.

Re: Prenatal Massages?
yes, that's when i had all of mine as I was suffering from terrible sciatica at that point. However, i did go to a massage therapist that was affiliated with my chiropractor's office. I felt more comfortable going to a place where people with medical training were using these therapists.

Re: Prenatal Massages?
Definitely safe, I've been treating myself to one every 5-6 weeks, when I was in there last time, there was a woman who was 38 wks preggo.
It feels sooooo goood, go for it! My OB actually suggested I do it when I started my second trimester.

Re: Prenatal Massages?
Yes.
I think most places will do massages during 2nd and 3rd trimesters. They don't usually recommend that you go during your 1st trimester though.
