Pregnant and wearing heels

So i am 22 weeks and wearing my heels to work. i dont think much about it, but people are saying that i should not be wearing them and i should wear flats. dont get me wrong as soon as i get home i kick these shoes off, but if i am comfortable in heels, i do not see a problem.

Does anyone else wear heels? If you do, how far into the pregnancy did you wear them?

I couldn't wear heels on a normal summer day, pregnant or not! Kudos to you for being able to do it. It's not like you're hurting yourself or your babies. If they look good and you say you're comfortable in them, then why not? Rock those heels!

I wish I could still wear heels but my feet and ankles are swelling so much these days that I'm practically in slippers!

If you're comfortable (and stable) in them, I see no problem with you wearing them! I wore heels to my baby shower when I was 30+ weeks.

I have worn them a handful of times when I wear something thats a little longer then usual and I need heels. Everyone always has a comment when I do. I say they should all mind their business. If you are comfortable, it is fine.

I got Plantar Fasciitis during my second pregnancy - i think from wearing flats...so I try to do small wedges or kitten heels.

it is fine as long as you are comfortable - i am 32 weeks pregnant with twins and now that the swelling in my feet went down i can fit in my heels and it makes me feel not so pregnant and that i can look decent when i go out

Re: Pregnant and wearing heels

people say the same thing to me.
i am EXTREMELY uncomfortable in flat shoes - they hurt my feet so bad. I find a low heel (1-2in) works best and is most comfortable for me. Even my flip flops are platform.

Totally honest? I think it's taking a chance that is just unnecessary. You might be very used to heels but when ur preggo ur center of gravity situation gets loopy even if you don't realize it/ feel it. Personally, I've gotten caught in the subway grate a few times, etc. To me it's just avoidable trouble and I'm all flats when preggo.

I'm 20 weeks and I wear heals everyday. until the day I can't get my feet in them, or I feel like I'm going to fall over, I will continue to wear them. I wear flats every once in a while and my feet hurt from them. I need some sort of arch in the shoe.

Re: Pregnant and wearing heels

Well, your equilibrium can be thrown off which is why I think there is some concern.

That said, I am more comfortable in heels and have worn them until almost the end in each of my other pregnancies.

Re: Pregnant and wearing heels

I rocked my heels until the very end during my first PG. This time I can't take them for 5 minutes. Go figure. Enjoy 'em while you can.

Re: Pregnant and wearing heels

i wore wedges until my last day. Honestly, the heel elevation felt better on my back than wearing flats!

She looks fabulous, but all that loose flowy fabric around those heels would trip ME up on a good day. Chat Icon

I'm 34 weeks and I was wearing heels last week. As long as your comfortable, why not? My OB did warn me though to be careful because your center of gravity is off now.

Re: Pregnant and wearing heels

I wore heels to work up until my water broke with DS. I currently plan to do the same with this pregnancy. Personally, I am more comfortable in heels and am so used to them from wearing them every day at work. Coworkers commented all the time and I just laughed at them. Of course they were concerned for me and baby. I am pregnant...not disabled! Hehe

Re: Pregnant and wearing heels

I stopped wearing heels the minute my MS started....I needed to be able to RUN (and I mean RUN) to the bathroom and that wasn't going to happen in heels. I'm feeling better but decided I am happy in flats.

If you're comfortable I don't see why it would a problem. I wore heels this weekend to a party and chased my almost 2 year old son around, I'm 24 weeks and didn't even think twice about it.

Re: Pregnant and wearing heels

Honestly... 90% of what people say belongs in the garbage can. That's what I really think. People just love to impose their beliefs and thoughts onto you. And they love giving unsolicited advice the MOST!!

If you are comfortable wearing them and aren't swollen, they fit well... and most of all you can walk well in them... then wear em as long as you want to.

I wore heals until my feet became really swollen. I remember wearing heals when I was almost 30 weeks along. All was fine. I didn't feel comfortable traveling in heals... so I would change when I got to where I was going... and I would also bring a pair of flip flops with me just in case i needed them.

You know yourself, you know your feet and comfort level... ROCK EM IF YOU WANT TO!!!

Re: Pregnant and wearing heels

I'm 24 weeks and I still wear heels to work...athough I prefer to wear my wedge sandals most days. I get the same response from some people. As long as I'm comfortable and my feet aren't swollen I will continue to wear them!
