Pregnancy Safe Cocktails
I figured with summer coming, memorial day weekend approaching with BBQs, I'd share a recipe I'm bringing with me this weekend plus a few others:
I'm bringing this on Saturday
White Sangria
Ingredients:
4 cups white grape juice
1 cup pink grapefruit juice
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 bottle club soda (750 milliliters)
Pink grapefruit slices- & other fruits!
Preparation
In a large pitcher, combine all three juices. Refrigerate. Just before serving, add the soda water and grapefruit slices (and other fruit, if you'd like). Makes about 12 servings.
Few others:
Piña Colada
(Of course, if citrus fruits — with their acidic qualities — have been playing havoc with your digestion, you may want something even milder. Although pineapple isn't technically part of the citrus family, its juice, like that of the orange, lime, or lemon, can be quite tart. For a sweeter, less tangy drink, use pineapple canned in syrup rather than its own juice.)
Ingredients:
2 ounces coconut milk
1½ ounces crushed pineapple
1 ounce pineapple juice
1/4 cup crushed ice
Brown sugar to taste (no more than one tablespoon)
Preparation:
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth (about 30 seconds). Pour into chilled glass. Garnish with an orange slice, a pineapple wedge, or a maraschino cherry.
Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri
(strawberry or whatever fruit suits your fancy) Go for fresh over frozen; the flavor will be much better.
Ingredients:
1 ounce fresh lime juice
3 ounces frozen strawberries in syrup (or fresh, if available)
1 teaspoon sugar
Cracked ice
Preparation:
Fill a blender with cracked ice. Add lime juice, strawberries, and sugar. Blend until smooth, then pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with an extra strawberry (if you have one) or an orange slice.
Safe Sex on the Beach recipe
3 oz cranberry juice
3 oz grapefruit juice
2 oz peach nectar
1 maraschino cherry
Pour over ice in a chilled glass and stir. Garnish with a cherry.
Virgin Raspberry Daiquiri recipe
3 oz raspberry puree
2 oz pineapple juice
1/2 oz lemon juice
1 tsp caster sugar
1/2 oz raspberry syrup
Blend briefly with half a glassful of crushed ice in a wine goblet. Garnish with raspberries, and serve.

Very cool... thanks! That's perfect till we can have the real thing.
When I'm out (b4 preggo) I usually get a Kettle One and Cran so now when I'm out I get a Sprite w/ a splash of Cran Juice.
Funny thing is when I was first pregnant and at a party with friends it was too early to tell people so I was drinking that and had the bartender put in a lime. Looked like I was drinking a vodka-cran and noone said anything.

I did that too! haha.....& now I love selzter and cranberry with a lime in it!!!

Awesome! I just bought some white grape juice on sale for when my water breaks clear liquids are safe drink!!!  I'll have to dip in early and have some sangria this weekend!!!
